Lower Back Pain, pain That Goes Down Leg And Butt Goes Numb Posted: 03-21-06 11:36am
About a year ago I fell from a rock about
15 feet and landed on my butt. Went to my
doctor and he said I fractured my tail
bone. A year later I have lower back pain
above my hip, pain that shoots down my
legs and a butt that goes numb. I had
x-rays done and an mri of my lower lumbar
and the doc says everything looks fine.
He told me it must be the way I bend over
but I have done it for years and its just
now starting to affect my back. He told
me I couldn't bend over to pick up my sons
toys could you imagine what my house would
look like . He even put me in a
back brace which made it worse and im only
25 but a diabetic. Pain is mostly on left
side.
Anyone else had this or any suggestions?
Could it be my kidneys?

You need another opinion. I have had back
pain, leg pain and numbness. I is a
herniated disk that I have. You need to
find a doctor that deals with the spine
and not a primary care physician.

Coccyx Injury Posted: 03-28-06 10:11am
I have treated many of these. Sounds
like a coccyx misalignment issue. To
treat this, you work on the muscles
surrounding the coccyx and then try to
move it into a more appropriate position.
Its not as bad as it sounds but if this
is the problem, you can get very fast
relief. In my experience, coccyx issues
will cause alot of back pain and
malfunction

You definitely need a second opinion. Did
you get a copy of the radiologist report
for the mri? If not get it and read it
yourself, they are not as hard to digest
as most people assume. Good luck. Btw
beware of get fixed fast routines.

I have what they call sciatica---which is
a shooting pain down one leg--down the
sciatic nerve. They have never to this
day ever found out what caused it or a
medical reason for it. Mine also started
after a fall. I get a sharp burning pain
all the way down to my foot on my left
side. In the past it has been so bad
that I would have to stand on one foot. I
hope you do find some relief for your
pain, and / or a .Dr to help you. Good
luck

lower left back pain Posted: 08-01-08 00:54am
i also have a back
problem. im in the army and i decided to
be hooah and try out for the special
forces. well, carrying an extremely heavy
rucksack a long distance in rough terrain
wasn't exactly me i guess. i finished it
but then started getting pain slowly
after. my pain is in the lower left of my
back and i get a burning blood rush kind
of feeling that goes all the way to my
foot. but it also depends on what position
im in. i find myself standing on one foot
all the time to help relieve the pain. but
consisitantly changing postions. mris and
xrays showed herniations and annualar tear
and buldges. another army doc also says
that my lower left muscle isnt working.
its having spasms. ive had 3 steriod
injections and the 1st 2 had no response.
the 3rd one they injected more towards my
hip and that seems to be helping a lil
bit. ive been dealing with this pain for
over a year now. what are my chances of
recovering? anyone? ideas?

another update for my back Posted: 09-29-08 11:11am
ok guys, heres the latest that ive heard.
they tell me that my sacroiliac joint is
messed up and they also say that my lower
back has severe arthritis in it. they put
4 needles in each vertabrae in my lower
back and injected me with a temporary
numbing medicine to see if it helped. it
did but it slowly wore off through out the
day. so now they are talking about burning
the nerves in my lower back. should i ?
people say yes and others say dont do it.
then i also talked to a doctor from
georgia and he said that he could put a
screw in through my hip and pull my SI
joint. the army docs tell me ill be
living with this pain for the rest of my
life. they got me on so much medications
right now. a few of them im guessing are
causing me to have memory loss. i cant
remember anything. it sucks. i dont think
that i have gotten the radiology report.
next time im there ill ask them for it. i
also remember the physical therapist was
checking my hip alignment and said my left
hip was lower than the right one.
surprisingly, my lower back started
hurting worse but the schiatic nerve that
goes down my leg pretty much stopped.
however it returned about a week later. so
whats next? lol.

Michael7105,
Forget about the doctor that will but a
screw through your hip into the Sl joint
and get another opinion from a sports
medicine orthopedic surgeon that
specializes in spines before you consider
RFA, radio frequency nerve ablation.
If you have disc herniations, annular tear
and bulges, you need treatment for that,
not nerves burned, which is usually done
for arthritis pain in the facets, but can
help with disc pain that continues.
What you have not been getting is the
proper treatment for the disc problems you
have.
Your hip may be out of align because of
the way you are walking do to the pain and
if the discs are treated properly and you
get the proper treatment you need for your
spine, the hip will align with physical
therapy.
Here's a link on e-health to nerve burning
and a post that I made with detalied
information on it.
alright guys and gals, heres the latest
thing the doctor told me. when they were
doing one of the injections, on the x-ray,
he showed me the that my discs or
vertabraes, w/e you want to call them,
were almost black. he told me that it was
bad arthritis. now, on the other hand, yes
in the morning im real stiff and it takes
me a few minutes to actually stand up, but
im starting to get pain down both my legs,
its like you can just tell that its in the
bone. but if i lean to the left side
(orginially my bad side), its like the
pain (in the lower back) goes away. doc
says it arthritis, but is it really? i
just know ive been in more pain since the
pyhsical therapist re-aligned my hip and
since the other doc injected meds in my
vertabraes and hit something in the lower
part where it seems like it hurts. now
some one else thats a medic told me that
it could possibly be both of sacroiliac
joints and to get a bone scan. any ideas?
thanks ladies and gents

You need to see a new spine surgeon for a
second opinion as to what is going on.
The more you see the doctors you are
seeing know, the more something else seems
to go wrong.
It sounds like they really don't know what
they are doing or talking about and are
just throwing out various diagnosis at
you.
A fresh pair of eyes on your MRIs, x-rays
etc. and an exam from a new spine surgeon
is highly suggested at this time.
You are continuing to suffer in pain, the
present doctors and physical therapist are
not helping you.
time to move on for another opinion.
