Help...atypical Cells Found On Uterus Posted: 03-21-06 11:41am
I need some help. Atypical cells were
found on my uterus, I am getting the leep
procedure done tomorrow. I do not have
kids yet and want to. Will this procedure
still allow me to have kids? Has this
happened to anyone? I'm only 30, will
this come back? Any advice would be
great!
Thank you.

I heard it can stop fertitlity or there a
higher chance of being less fertile and
not being to carry a child at all, from
wha my friend said there is another
procedure if you want to have kids umm
believe it was laser therapy (they freeze
ur cervix) but its just pulses and burns
the bad cells off!

I had the same procedure done. They told
me it would not effect my chance of having
children. For women who don't get paps
done they have a higher chance of it
progressing to cancer. It may or may not
come back it depends. As long as you
keep up on your paps you will be ok.
Ask the doctor if they have any pamphlets
on it, there is a lot of info in them. I
hope I could help some.

A .L.E.E.P procedure should remove all the
bad cells. They are on your cervix -
probably not on your uterus.
You can continue to have children. Make
sure to go for your repeat pap smears
often. I think they suggest every 4 or 6
months for a year or two. Just to make
sure they don't come back. You can have a
repeat .L.E.E.P if they do.
Laser therapy isn't used if the bad cells
are higher into the cervix. Laser surgery
works best on cells found on the outter
portion of the cervix.

Well, it says they give you a time period
in which you can't have sex. So i'd
assume you can start trying right after
that's over.

My ob/gyn discovered I had these abnormal
cells a couple of weeks ago and i'm 6
months pregnant. Thursday i'm going in to
have some procedure to see how bad my case
is. I was told because I am pregnant they
will have to wait untill my baby is born
to remove them.

they will probably do a colposcopy and a
biopsy. Doctors sometimes do this
throughout the pregnancy just to make sure
everything is ok. If the biopsy comes
back with a similar result as the pap
smear, when the baby is 6 weeks old you
may have a .L.E.E.P.
I hope everything goes well for you.

i just had a coloscopy done this past
friday (i'm 13 weeks) after I had a pap
test come back with abnormal cells. It
made me a little uncomfortable, but
nothing bad. I just have to get another
pap test in 4 months to see if everything
is ok. They even talked about having a
l.E.E.P. Done, but would wait until after
I had the baby.
