The la times recently ran an article about
legislation before congress that is
supposed to allow small businesses to
purchase health insurance at lower rates,
but what it will really do is override
state laws requiring that insurance
companies provide a minimum level of
coverage. Small businesses struggle
anyway and now the fed govt could
manipulate them into having a choice
between no health insurance and crappy
health insurance.
My husband runs a small business and they
can't afford to provide insurance for all
their employees. Employees and employers
are all in a really difficult position
when it comes to coverage.
