What can happen if nerve damage continues? I'm experiencing Posted: 03-22-06 13:33pm
I've had a back surgery last year due to
complete leg numbness(r), chronic back
pain, tingling and pins and needles
feeling, and shooting pains whenever I
sit. The doctor found that my disks were
pinching my nerves and he relieved the
pressure. However, the above ailments have
not let up and seem to be getting worse.
What will happen to my (r)leg if this
isn't fixed soon?
Thank You for your time.

When degenerated intervertebral discs
pinch the roots of a spinal nerve over
time, nerve damage can become
irreversible. In the case of nerve
damage, surgery can’t relieve symptoms
but could prevent the condition from
worsening. If symptoms become worse, they
could be the result of developing
postoperative scar tissue OR the
degenerative process of another
inter-vertebral disc(s). It’s very
difficult to predict what will happen with
sensations in your leg; anything is
possible.
