Q: Not Having Morning Sickness - Will I Miscarry?

I am about 5 weeks pregnant and I am just now getting light signs of morning sickness. I am very concerned because I heard that have very little to no morning sickness can be a sign of a possible miscarriage. My main concern is that this is my second pregnancy, my first pregnancy I was extremely sick all the time and now I am not. Could this be a sign that something is wrong?

It could be too early. From what i've read on this forum and others, morning sickness doesn't really set in until week 6 or so. Mine started then and it's horrible. I've also read that only about 50% of women have to suffer through morning sickness. As for the miscarriage thing, I had the worst morning sickness ever and I lost my baby. So I really hate when people go on about how great morning sickness is and what a good sign it is. I think you'll be fine and remember, every pregnancy is different so try not to compare this one to your last one. Congrats on your pregnancy!

All pregnancies are different. I never had any morning sickness either time I was pregnant - but I did get nighttime sickness if I ate meat.

If you haven't been bleeding, then I wouldn't be concerned yet. When is your first doctor's appointment?

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

Thank you for your replies, that information is helpful.

My first doctor's appointment is not until april 3rd, so until then I am so worried about something going wrong. My husband and I have been trying for so long that finding out I was pregnant was a miricle, so we just want to be sure nothing can go wrong.

Hi Nicolel,

Are you pregnant? Had you already gotten a positive urine or blood test?

If you are pregnant, and you are experiencing a "heavy period", please go to your nearest emergency room right away.

If you were not sure if you were pregnant, and you are now experiencing a heavy period, you are likely not pregnant. If you are worried, make an appointment to see your doctor.
