Multiple Sclerosis And Arachnoid Cyst Posted: 01-04-04 10:50am
I have had headaches for as long as I can
remember. Then the numbness,muscle
spasms, memory problems, fatigue, body
aches, feels like a film is over my eyes.
I had a mri done in 1999 they found a
arachnoid cyst and said they couldn't rule
out multiple sclerosis. I have no
insurance and haven't been able to have
another mri or go to doctor. I still have
all symptoms. I also always on a daily
basis have to take sinus pressure
medicine. I have a clear mucus drainage
all the time. In 1999 they also sent me
to a sinus doctor whom confirmed my
sinuses were fine, but yet I have
pressure. They say the cyst, I was
probably born with and probably is not
causing pressure, but need to have mri
done every so often, I can't with no
insurance. I am a mother of 3 boys, 37
years old and trying to live a normal
life, but seem to have problems. I stay
tired, headaches,body aches, numbness in
hands and feet, toes. Has there been any
other people with similar problems,
arachnoid cyst related to multiple
sclerosis? I also had a brother die with
spinal bifida in 1971 is there any
relation?

I
noticed your post because it sounds like
the same thing I read in an mri I had just
recently. In the many mris I have had
over a period of many years, in addition
to the multiple foci (of ms), this time
the mri discovered an arachnoid cyst which
had never been noted on any earlier films.
I have been curious if technology is
more sensitive than before, or if the cyst
is new. I looked it up in a
professional medical dictionary and it did
not (for me) seem to be a more pressing
issue than the ms I already have, so I
have sort of ignored it. Now, since
seeing your post, I am wondering if this
is a common occurrence. As to your
inability to get medical tests done, I
wonder if you live in a state which has
medicaid benefits. I am in california
where it is possible to get medical and
then, if not qualified for that, one can
get something else for the medically
indigent. Perhaps you should shop around
for something which will assist you.
Perhaps the national ms society has some
suggestions. Good luck.

Because they were killing me.
They finally found the MS after 17 years
of me going through Hell. And that was
after I had surgery on my arachnoid cyst.
They kept on telling me the symptoms were
"all in my head" which is why I started
arachnoidcyst.org too.
UK should give you some kind of discounted
something because you don't have health
insurance. Please get it because without
it you are totally screwed. My insurance
finally ran out and I came here to
California where things got diagnosed and
done.
If you want to call and talk about it I
can be reached at (800) 493-5022.
