Is ENT Diagnosis a Waste of Time? Posted: 03-29-06 12:53pm
I have recently been afflicted with what
an ENT recently described as TMJ with
arthritis in my right jaw. I have always
had sinus issues, (pressure, phlegm,
drainage at night....sore throat,etc)
however, I never have experienced this.
My dentist has told me before that I must
grind my teeth at night and I am a very
stressful person unfortunately that eats
fast and carries stress on my sleeve.
My concern is that the ENT diagnosis and
Rx recommendations may be a waste of time.
I have been Rx Augmentin for
sinusitis...which really wasn't bothering
me that bad and I have run the gammit of
Rx drugs for this to no avail. He also
gave me 800mg of Ibuprofen for the TMJ
pain (doing nothing...already taking 600mg
per day since 3 months out of ACL
reconstruction)..Finally, he gave me a Rx
from protoxin I believe for reflux which
he believes is causing my sore throat more
than my constant drainage?!?!?
Anyway...to the question. The right side
of my mouth seems to be EXTREMELY
sensitive when I eat or drink ANYTHING.
It is like a taste bud overload sensation
that is extremely difficult to tolerate.
This is not a symptom of TMJ that I have
located anywhere and I am curious if this
may or may not be confirmation that
something else is wrong??
Please advise, thank you.
