Hi everyone, i'm going to try to give as
much information as possible in order to
get the most reasonable anwsers. My
girlfriend takes yasmin birthcontrol and
has been doing so for roughly 11 months
with no problems. This monday we had sex
in the early morning, tuesday her peroid
started which is extremely regular, same
date every month since taking bc. Tuesday
afternoon she got an extremly sharp pain
in her lower left side near her ovary.
This is the first time this has happened,
the gyn doubts it's an ovaultion since
she's on bc as well as her peroid. The
pain has been constant for about 24 hours
now dulling from time to time but never
really dieing off. Could she be ovualting
on her peroid while on bc or it more
likely something else? Any help would be
nice, or if more information is needed
please ask.
Now I understand there is an extremly
lowwwwww chance of ovulating, while on
birth control, during your peroid.
But is it still feasable? And if so, what
is the real chance of getting pregant
because of it?

It sounds like it is something else. Not
ovulation. Has she been to the doctor?

We called the gyn today, she was tied up
however so we spoke to a np who assured us
she was not ovulating and to wait for the
pain to die down.
If it does not die down by friday we were
to call to make an appointment.
We agreed however that we're going to call
tomorrow instead of friday so she wouldn't
have to wait till monday to see a
doctor.
What do you think it is? Def not
ovulating??

I don't have any idea what it may be. You
take birth control so you don't ovulate.
Chances of ovulating on your period are
slim. Doesn't sound like ovulation.

I agree.
Even if you take your birth control
regularly (she takes hers the same hour
every night) is there any chance it could
have worked for 11 months and suddendly
not worked this month because of some
other circumstance?
To me, the odds of it just happening, and
even during a peroid seem to great to be
possible.

We'll start charting from here on, but
this is the first time its happened and
she's been taking it for 11 months. So
could it have worked for 11 months and
just stopped?
She says when she woke up today it wasn't
really there but it came as the morning
progressed, does this have any meaning?

Most likely she has a cyst. Ovulation
pain is not that bad hun, if she is in
serious pain there is soemthing wrong like
perhaps a cyst. I work for planned
parenthood and a lot of women we see have
cysts. Ovulation is stopped by birth
control. She could also be having cramps
too.. See a doc again.
I'm not a doctor, and I can't diagnose
your girlfriend, but I too have extremely
bad ovulation pains; when I was in my
younger teenage years they would be so
excrutiating that I couldn't walk, and one
time I blacked out.
I noticed a week or two ago I ovulated for
the first time using yasmin in 8 months,
and the following week I felt all the side
effects I had heard of: crying,
irritabiliy, hungry, not hungry,
depressed, little interest in anything, no
sex drive, suicidal thoughts, wanting to
attack anyone in my presence, and moody.
I would not recommend this birth control
to anyone. Many people have said that
this causes cysts on their ovaries, weight
gain (i myself gained 30 lbs, whether due
to appetite or water retention, but the
pill was the cause considering I was at
the same weight for years before starting
this pill) and etc.
You can go to the doctor, but I suggest
switching brands as soon as possible!
P.S.:
i also noticed that this may be because of
daylight savings time. Did she start
taking her pill at a different time? I
know that I skimped on timing for a good
week or two and this could very well be
the cause of my own ovulation. Although
chances are slim, I know and listen to my
body -- I ovulated on yasmin.

You can get ovulation test kits at the
store...
But few women ovulate on birth control if
they are taking it correctly..You cannot
know if you ovulate unless you actually
use an ovulation detector kit..I work for
planned parenthood I am a healthcare
provider..I do know what I am talking
about.

i am just suggesting that either way, a
woman should listen to her body. It's
great they have test kits, but in my
opinion I know my body and know that I
ovulated on the yasmin.
