Gastric Bypass Complications
Posted: 03-30-06 15:31pm

I am in need of help desperatly! I had gastric bypass feb. 03 and have had nothing but problems since. I need advice and a good 2nd opinion doctor that will listen and try to help me. I have severe (l) upper quadrant pain and spasms x 2yrs now and for the past month I have had pain in the (r) upper quadrant that is like a serious burning ache. I have been through 8 egd's, 1 colonoscopy, numerous ct scans, xrays, upper gi's, blood work. Nothing shows up. I am becoming very discouraged. I continuously become dehydrated and I cannot quit losing weight. I am now at 117lbs (from 270) I need help, I live in severe pain every day and my doctor has said there is nothing else he can do. Since my gp sx, I have had my gallbladder removed, hernia repair, adhesions removed, and a blocked intestine. Please help!!! I am from huntsville al. And had sx in birmingham, all sx's by the same surgeon.

You need to seek out another doctor and get a second opinon. Gastric bypass surgery can cause health problems, many you mentioned you've had, so you know how important it is.

Have you had a second opinion?

I have had a second opinion also in birmingham. The doctor ended up being a "friend" of my surgeon and sent me a letter after reviewing my records stating he would not do anything different. My surgeon released me saying there is nothing else he can do, so now I am on my own dealing with the pain. It's very depressing for not only me, but my 3 children and husband who watch me suffer.

I have been nauseated, vomiting, having some form of indigestion, repeated respiratory infections, yeast infections in my mouth, throat, and vaginal area, repeated UTIs-you name it, I've had it. Not to mention the 8 days I was in the hospital due to dehydration and those awful first 3 months. I have not seen my surgeon in over a year because he was so hateful because I had not lost as much weight as he felt I should have. I've been through the colonoscopies and EGDs.I am desperate for some help from someone. I am so tired of being in pain.
