Are Abdominal Aches and Headaches Sign of Cirrhosis?
Posted: 03-31-06 13:06pm

About a week ago I started getting an intense pain in the top of my head. My head also feels like I have a fever, but don't register anything significant. I have also been getting an ache on my lower right side. I do consume 5-8 drinks of alcohol each day on the weekends. The aches didn't go away when I stopped drinking for several days though. I've only been drinking like this for two years, and before that only occassionally. I didn't drink at all until I was 27. I'm now 35. Are these symptoms of cirrohsis?

Frequent headaches and abdominal pain are signs of disorders not usually associated with cirrhosis. The most certain sign of cirrhosis is liver failure. In the beginning stages of cirrhosis, signs and symptoms are discovered only via laboratory analyses. If you feel that your drinking has taken a turn for the worse, you can consult a mental health professional, your GP, or a 12-Step support group for help. The most important quality to have when facing a potential addiction is honesty. If you can develop honesty, you can begin to change your behavior.
