Is it Normal to Experience Orgasm (and Ejaculation) without
Posted: 04-01-06 16:18pm

Last week, I experienced ejaculation without an erection.

While masturbating, I had trouble maintaining a strong erection. After the penis became very soft, I felt an orgasm coming on. This orgasm scared me as my penis was not hard at all.

I experienced an orgasm despite a limp penis and sperm did ejaculate from the penis.

For the next ten days, I was unable to have sex. That is, my penis would not achieve an erection---not even at night while sleeping or first thing in the morning as it usually would. I'm not sure if part of that had to do with me being frightened that the same unpleasant experience would occur.

Finally, I was able to have normal sex (ejaculation with an erect penis). I am interested in understanding more about what happened to me. Is this a sign of an unhealthy condition? Or, can something like this occur occasionally in a healthy male?

I would appreciate any response. Thanks.

Ejaculation and erection are two different actions controlled by two different reflex mechanisms. Although the two functions can operate simultaneously, they can also run independent of one another. Ejaculation without an erection can happen occasionally... even in healthy men. If men ejaculate often without an erection, this indicates a disorder or problem with the erection (impotency).
