hI, i WAS just wondering if the Mirena causes excessive weight gain & if it is recommended. I read on another discussion board that it causes excessive weight gain & bad acne by several women who have used it. Thanks a lot! Joy

There is no medication that can cause “excessive weight gain” if you don’t eat a lot. The point is that eating a lot causes weight gain, not birth control pills. Acne is not connected to birth control pills. In fact , birth control pills can be used for treating acne in women.
