Tmj Surgery Posted: 04-04-06 14:52pm
I have just had tmj surgery, they cut both
sides and wired my teeth shut, was in icu
for 2 nights, on a respirator, the whole 9
yards .... I'm icing my face all day long
to try to reduce the swelling, my goodness
I look like a chipmunk ... Any idea how
long I can expect this to last before I
start to look normal-ish? And any
suggestions for food? Soup broth is
getting old real fast.

hi scrappyblue,
what kind of surgery was it? Did you
have implants placed? Or was it
orthognathic surgery?
I would expect that your swelling will be
around for a couple weeks, although I am
sure it will go down significantly after
the first week or so.
I went and checked out the link catswold
gave you and it is good. They have a
forum for nutrition with recipes for
different meals that are liquid and
soft.
Here's the link (go to the forum and click
the "nutrition" forum... The links here
don't work right) http://www.Tmjfriends.Com/forum
/
how long will your mouth be wired?
Hope you feel better soon!
