Anyone here, before getting hypoglycemia,
ever take any of the following (for a long
time):
1. Antibiotics (especially high-dose)
2. Accutane
3. Other than number 2, any medication
where they have to frequently check your
liver function to make sure it's working
right.

Back in december last year, I took
doxycycline (100mg twice a day) for a
month, during which time I took my glucose
tolerance test.
Are antiibiotics related to hypoglycemia?

Just curious about this because of two
things. Since my liver was enflamed and
this is what set my hypoglycemia in
overdrive, I always wondered if the
accutane had something to do with it. In
addition, I had taken high-dose
antibiotics before I got really sick,
about a month or so before in fact. I'm
not saying they're related to it, but
upsetting the bacterial balance may indeed
be one of the major causes of it.

I had a co-worker who was hypoglycemic for
years and she recently did a round of
antibiotics for a sinus infection. She
said after she was done with the
antibiotic her hypoglycemia went away.
Weird.

Not entirely weird, research is showing
now that high-dose antibiotics can do more
harm than good, they're trying to work out
medicines that focus on bad bacteria
without harming the good.
