Im Very Uspest N Need to Vent :(
Posted: 04-06-06 14:45pm

I just came back from my doctors appointment and I found out monday I have pcos. So I went today to see what we were going to do to treat this.My doctor told my she needed to send me to a speaicalist and I can't get in there until june 3rd. But she told me that she remends that I go on bc for at least a yr. I've been ttc for two years. I don't want to wait another.. And what if I wait the yr and still cant get preg. I don't know what to do.. The people I talked to that have this tell me they get put on meds to help them have a baby, I don't know why she didn't do that for me. Do you think I should go for a sec oppion?? Im so upset I can't even cry. I wanted a baby for so long... Now why is it so diffcult for me and easy for others. I read so much on this and I never seen anything on bc except for people that don't want to get preg. She said I need to give my ovaries a rest. A rest!! From what?? There not working they don't need a rest. Anyone that could relate or anyone with an idea please let me know.

The first thing doctors usually want to do is put you on birth control pills to regulate your periods a little bit ... Assuming that you have irregular periods with pcos, and then move onto clomid, etc. Once you've tried for a year. If you're older, though, they'll usually move you right up to clomid if you have been trying for a year or more.

I found out that I had pcos when I was 20 and my Dr. Wanted to put me on birth control pills (because I was ready to have a baby). I hadn't had a period in about 9 months prior to seeing my dr (until about a couple weeks before I went to see him). I decided not to get the birth control pills for about a month because I felt like I could be pregnant. I was! Now, i've been trying for another one for almost 2 years and it hasn't happened. I've probably had 2 periods in the last year ... And i'm kinda like you. I don't want to get on birth control pills to regulate myself because that means that I have to wait longer to get pregnant again.

So, it's perfectly normal for a Dr. To put you on birth control pills before they move you to the heavy drugs. If you're in your mid to late thirties, though, I would definitely get a second opinion. Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. A second opinion can't hurt. Another doctor may try to go another route with you.

Thanks guys but theres one thing I dont understand. Dosen't bc and
clomid do the same thing with the period??? I know oversly bc pervents preg and clomid basically makes ya. So why wouldn't she put me on clomid if I wouldn't a baby.? And bc for a yr. Anyways I did make another appointment with a speacialist. Now that I am aware of the opptions I have.. I am going to put all my cards on the table no bc

I have heard of people using birth control to regulate cycles for 1-3 months at a time but never a year. I'm not real sure though. I don't know much about pcos. Have you been able to find anything on the internet? I am glad you made another appt. I have also heard of people using the drug metformin (sp?) if they have an insulin resistant form of pcos.

Yea thats what i've been reading. It never said anything about people going on bc if she wants to become preg.. I guess I am young but im 20 im not 12 I think I have the rite to make up my own mind, but I have found things on pcos if you want to check it out.. Pcos.Com n about the 1-3 months that would be ok I wouln't like it but if I had to i'd do it. But not a yr.. She said the older I gett the harder it would be for me to have kids.. So why wouldn't she help me?? I don't know here I go again venting.
