Hello-
i am sure a few of you recognize me, but
others might not.
I have really bad anxiety and worry about
my health like crazy.
Either way, like 2 days before christmas I
got really sick with a horrible virus and
then I started getting a little better and
then christmas eve, my 3 year old daughter
got severely sick and was taken over to
urgent care with a temp. Of 105 degrees!
They told me to give her tylenol and
motrin and just to give it time and she
would be better. Well she was sick for
about 9 days with a moderately high temp.
And then finally she began to get well. I
go to college and she is in preschool.
Right now we are on christmas break. My
anxiety started to act up once I wasn't
very busy with school and her school too.
While she was sick, I felt very tense and
I wasn't sleeping well. I noticed that I
was upper chest breathing a lot. So much
that my chest muscles became very soar.
The muscles are not too tender anymore,
but last night I woke up with a really bad
achey throbbing my left arm. I was really
scared because I thought about heart
attack right away. I am 24 and pretty
healthy besides this bad anxiety problem.
Then I took some ibuprofen and it went
away. Now I feel a little knawing
shooting pain in my left breast near the
sternum area. My arm was also tingling
and had a pins and needles feeling too.
My question is, could this be a pinched
nerve from being so tense for so many
days? Stress maybe? My aunt who has been
an rn for about 20-21 years now and she is
very smart, says it doesn't sound like
anything serious to her. I go to her
whenever I feel really anxious or upset.
Should I consider it to probably be stress
related? Any advice would be great!
Thanks!!

Hi,
as a mum I remember when my 2 (now 8 &
15) were little (hell sometimes even
now!!) were sick & wanted/needed
tender loving care, you hold them &
cuddle them sometimes till you think your
arms will fall off
>>>>>> pinched nerve?
>>. Or tired muscles?
>>>> or stress can come when
having held yourself together for your
child's sake you relax & wham!! The
pains etc hit as a result of you (often
unconsciously) holding yourself rigid with
fear for your child!!?? Not to mention
you having had a virus too!!!!!!
Nevertheless if it keeps up or gets worse
(i mean bad, only you can really judge
that) i'd get a dr to check it out just in
case, even if only to put your mind at
ease.
Good luck, you seem like a really caring
person & empathy sometimes makes us
more easily affected physically by what
life throws at us.

Purple!
Thank you for replying. I called my aunt
again last night and asked her if I am
making a mistake by not going to the Dr.
And she again said no. I realize she is
only an rn, but she knows so much she
might as well be a Dr.! :d she honestly
thinks it is from tension and the whole
week/more of being upset about my daughter
and me not even having the chance to rest
so I would get better. I will keep lose
watch over this though and if it seems
really bad, I will call my real Dr.! Lol

First I totally agree that many rns are
more useful than many drs!!!!!!
I only suggested you see a dr if it kept
up & got worse. I did however think
earlier today that I should have suggested
that you rub an arthritis or muscle strain
relief cream into the areas involved
because if any of it is from holding your
daughter &/or tension in muscles
caused by stress that would give more long
term relief than a pain killer, also
(unless you're in a hot climate (it was
40 here today (over100)) then using a hot
compress could also help.
I hope that both you & your daughter
are feeling much better & that her
school ersumes soon so you can get a break
(even if it's only a return to
studying!!).

it starts to subside completely soon!!
Thank you very much for all the advice!!
I will try the muscle strain.
My daughter is back to her old self and
school has started back for her and I will
be back to school on the 14th!!! :d
