Am I Preg? Help Please Worried Sick Posted: 04-10-06 20:50pm
Okay, here goes. I just lost my virginity
so I might be very paranoid, but here's
the story
i have been having protected sex (condom)
with my boyfriend, and we both check for
breaks everytime we are done, and we have
never found one. The day of my last
period was the 2nd of march. I usually
have a 30 day cycle, so I should have
started again on the 31st of march. It's
april 10th and I have yet to get my
period. I have taken 2 preg tests (once 2
days late, and again 6 days late, both
morning urine), and both came back clearly
negative, and I have no symptoms. The
only thing I can think of why i'm late
because i'm 1) stressing over school and
work, and 2) worrying about being
pregnant.
On the 6th of march my bf and I had
protected sex but weren't sure if it
leaked, so I took the morning after pill
the next day.
My question is, if you usually start your
period when you normally would when you
take that pill, when would I start, if i'm
already over a week late???
I really need some advice please.

The morning after pill may very well have
messed up your cycle, as it has been known
to do. Maybe you could go to planned
parenthood and discuss additional methods
of birth control. Condoms are a must but
there are also other things to use in
addition to them (spermicide, cervical
caps, birth control pills, etc).
Good luck!

Thank you for the advice. Unfortunately,
this experience has been so traumatic :( ,
that I have vowed not to have sex anymore
until i'm either married or can get the
pill or the patch.
So by what you have said, the morning
after pill can mess up my cycle (i am
aware that it does not abort an
established pregnancy), but as I am unsure
whether I am pregnant or not (despite 2
negative tests) I will take another [test]
in a couple of days. By now, I should
have enough of the hormone because if I
were pregnant I would be about 5 weeks
now. So we'll see.
i have been cramping as if I am about to
start my period and have been having a
clear discharge, but I don't, maybe it's
just wishful thinking.

No need to scare the poor girl - yes,
pregnancy is always a possibility, but
considering the type of contraception she
used, it's an .E.X.T.R.E.M.E.L.Y remote
one. Shasta, based on what you told us,
i'm 99.99999% sure you are not pregnant.
You used condoms and the morning-after
pill, sweetheart! And had two clearly
negative pregnancy tests with no symptoms!
I know it's easy to feel paranoid until
your period comes, but i'm almost positive
you're not pregnant based on what you told
us. The morning after pill can screw up
your cycle, making your period a week
late. You can take another test but I
personally wouldn't waste my money.

You should still look into other methods
of birth control to use with condoms.
This will help you feel more at ease in
the future.
Sex is way better when you don't have to
worry about getting pregnant.
Good luck. You'll be fine.

Thank you all so much you guys, i've
steadily been feeling better. And thank
you all for your concern, don't worry I
wasn't being scared, I know I messed up.
I talked with my boyfriend and told him
that if we weren't ready for the possible
consequences of sex then maybe we should
reconsider. And the thing about birth
control is... Well, my parents would
never go for it (i'm an extremely
overprotected catholic who is the youngest
and is the only girl.), so I wouldn't know
how to go about it without my parents
knowing, because (shamefully) i'm kinda
naive about the whole thing.
As my period hasn't started yet (but I am
starting to get cramps), i'll wait a few
more days before I take another test. If
this one comes back negative too, i'll
stop worrying.
Again, thank you very much, I really
needed feedback on this. Hopefully the
next time I write back is when i've
started my period.

For clarity's sake, I know what the
repercussions of my actions are, I wasn't
born yesterday, and haven't lived under a
rock. I know reality isn't all nice and
good. I was simply asking for input, not
a moral lecture. I already knew
beforehand what I shouldn't have done,
just because I didn't say it on here
doesn't mean I wasn't thinking it.
I know there can be some bashing on these
forums, and I wasn't trying to offend, I
was simply asking for help. As for me
waiting till I get married, that's what I
meant by starting a family. Marriage in
my mind is the union of two people who are
emotinally and financially able, and if
two are in this situation, then we should
be ready for any child we would have.
Anyway, thank you again, it was a relief
to here input from an outsiders point of
view instead of worrying alone.

hey I bow to
you...Because most the time girls that are
worried about pregnancy that come here
usually dont use any kind of
protection...So atleast you are using
condoms..And taking the right steps to get
put on birth control..You seem really
smart about the whole deal..Just be more
careful--start taking bc soon!

if you are in the states, you can go to
planned parenthood. They do not tell your
parents and you can get free birth
control. They can discuss various methods
of birth control with you.
Good luck!

Whew ok, here's the story.
So I was exactly 2 weeks late today, and I
had decided to take a pregnancy test in
the morning. So I took it, and literally
5 seconds later I just start laughing,
because my situation was so ironic. Right
after I took the test, I started my
period. My boyfriend was like "really??"
and I was just laughing...
Thank god. But if I were pregnant, I was
considering abortion, but I don't think I
could ever bring myself to do it. So in a
way, i'm glad I wasn't. I definately will
be more careful in the future.

Yea, you might wanna be a little more
careful. Taking a baby's life because of
your bad judgment is just not something
i'd take lightly. I'm glad you're not
pregnant to and i'm glad you realize what
you did was irresponsible.
If you were to get pregnant, consider
adoption over abortion. There are
thousands, maybe millions of couples who
would literally .D.I.E to have a
baby....

yay. Funny how a negative pregnancy test
can start your period right up, huh? Glad
everything worked out. Now go get some
birth control, girl!

Thanx again to everyone who provided input
and support. Lol, and ingi, I think i'm
too traumatized to think of sex for
awhile. I'll def get birth control when I
start having sex again though.
I did have a question though.
I have heard that living with other women
or working alot with women can influence
when you start your period. I.E, if ur
sis starts her period you will soon start
yours.
I wonder if this is true? Cuuz my mom and
I used to start our periods around the
same time, but then hers got all funny
(she's in her mid 40's). Just a thought.

I don't know - I think it can happen...
I know what you're going through with the
whole "overprotected catholic thing"
things. I have five older brothers and am
the only girl but my parents said that
they would really rather that I ended up
on birth control than pregnant again...
Over here though you don't have to have
permission. How old are you ~ because if
you are over the legal age for sex then
you can get it without permission anywhere
I think!
Hope this helps - it really is better to
go on birth control cos your views on sex
might change. :)

yes, that's definitely true. It happens
to me a lot. Everytime I start working
with a new group of women we do this.
It's embarrassing, but funny ("did you
start yet?" "yeah, yesterday." "me, too."
etc).
I honestly really doubt that you're
pregnant. I suppose it is possible, but I
would be very surprised if you were.

Lol, i'm not pregnant. I took a test and
right after I did, I started my period.
And if it is true that other women can
influence when you start your period, I
guess I could see why I hadn't started
mine... My boss was 3 weeks late (wasn't
preggo) and my co-worker is on depo, so
she's all over the place (never
regular).
I'm 19, so i'm able to get birth control
without my parents knowing, but the thing
is, I know that no birth control is
100%... So I think i'd rather just
abstain for awhile until i'm not so
traumatized. I agree that if I don't
think I can handle a baby, I shouldn't be
having sex, even with birth control, cuz
things can still happen.
Thanx again everyone.

no birth control is 100%...
However, I do suggest birth control pills
for not only protection from pregnancy,
but also because they regulate your
period, they lessen any cramps ou might
have during your period, and they even
reduce acne :)
and honestly... Using bcp's and a condom
is basically 100% effective... If I heard
of a woman getting pregnant who was
correctly using birth control pills and
used a condom that didn't break, i'd be
amazed. Actually, i'd be amazed to hear
of a woman getting pregnant with an
unbroken condom, period. (no pun
intended)

Hey guys :)
i realize that there is a very remote
chance that I would get preg with bcp and
condoms, but there is still that chance.
And I wouldn't be able to deal with it
now, should something happen. So I think
i'll just wait. Thank you all so much for
your input and concern for me, this site
is awesome.
As for the bcp, I know it is nice to take
to regulate periods and reduce acne and
cramps, but as I have none of these
problems, I think i'll forego the pills.
(this was the first time in years that I
was ever late for more than 2 days). But
i'll definately start taking em when I
think about sex again. I don't ever want
to go through this again.
Lol so I guess sandralynn was right, I
scared myself straight o_o!
