Is it likely that an individual would
abuse anabolic steroids for purposes other
than bodybuilding? For example, do
steroids induce euphoria or other such
side effects, like other typically abused
drugs?

The euphoria from steroids comes from the
obsession of getting more muscle. That
is, a person using steroids (usually) is
already obsessed with maintaining and
building the physique (muscular) (sp?).
When they do the steroids, their physique
improves at a rate not normally
achievable. Thus, they feel somehow
superhuman. This is in addition to the
testerone boost. And testosterone boost,
in a way, produces a euphoria, but not
similar to ones on certain mind altering
drugs.
I think I swayed from your question. If
a person is not into bodybuilding or
sports, and begins using steroids for the
sole purpose of inducing euphoria, the
person will likely experience some
'mentality' change, which they may
intrepret as euphoria. But its more
likely that their activities will become
more agressive, they will become more self
confident (in a bad way), and be 'more
like a man'. Of course, for every high,
there is a low, and they will have extreme
mood shifts where... Well, you can
imagine.
Anyway, steroids are great for people
suffering from aids, people without proper
testerone levels, and some people with
asthma. But even athletes are starting
to realize that steroids only achieve a
muscular physique and not necessarily
improved athletic performance.
Id stick with not using steroids, and
letting the race horses use the supply.
