Choosing the Sex of Your Baby...
Posted: 04-20-06 12:25pm

I was wondering if anyone had read this book choosing the sex of your baby. Also if anyone here had tried the methods described and succesfully concieved a boy.

I'm not looking to start a debate on the ethics of choosing the sex of a baby. I have three beautiful little girls and am thinking I would like to have a boy. Still if I tried for a boy and had a girl I would still love her to pieces, so please no lectures.

Just wondered if anyone had tried this or other methods for concieving a boy. I know plenty of methods work for a girl but are less succesful for boys. So any info would be great.

Thanks and baby dust to all who need it. *******

My ob/gyn told me that, since the male sperm is weaker than the female, the vagina needs to be less acidic for them to better survive the trip to the egg. When my baby girl was conceived, I had a bladder infection which, in turn, made the vagina more acidic. Tmi, I know, i'm sorry. Anyway, making vaginal conditions as healthy as possible will help, but it won't guarantee a boy.

Actually, melissa, I have read that drinking a lot of orange juice, eating a lot of tomatoes, etc., contributes to a highly acidic vaginal state.

The chines lunar calendar uses the month you conceive and your age and has been pretty accurate for most of us on another forum. :-)

Also, if you know roughly when you are ovulating and you are aiming for a girl, try to avoid sex that day. The x chromosome survive longer than the y, so if you have sex the day or two before ovulation, better chance of conceiving a girl!

They say to avoid coffee, if you want a girl, sleep on the right side of the bed, missionary(i think).. Umm, can't think of any more..

Life holds no guarantees, that is for sure about all you can hope for is that they are healthy and happy and that you can feed and clothe them and send them to a safe school. My dr was pretty fortunate though, he had two boys and wanted a girl and ended up with twin girls, I thought that was great!
The best to all!

I have a brother who is 4 years older than me. When my mom was pregnant with me, she was told by two different doctors that she was having a boy. My dad, really wanting a girl, was adamant that the doctors were wrong and insisted I would be a girl. And, well, obviously, I was. Lol

My mum had 2 boys and really wanted a girl, then her doctor told her to have sex a few days or a couple of days before ovulation and she did and I turned out to be a girl!!!! Female sperm last longer apparently!
