I don't wash everything before she wears it (if it's new) but before she came I did only because I .L.O.V.E the smell of ivory snow...It's amazing, doing her laundry is one of my favorite things to do because I love the smell so much lol. If it wasn't so expensive I would wash my clothes in it too (so far I haven't even finished a box and i've been washing clothes with it since before she was born...But it isn't big enough to wash a lot of adult sized clothing in).

I would, because my mom dressed my little sister in a little dress and she broke out all over her little body. Mostly under her neck. She is 4 now but when she was soo little anything would break her out.

My mum said that I have to when the time comes but if I give her everything she'll do it for me! She's gonna use lux flakes.. Guess it's similar to ivory snow! Smells yummy! :)

this is an allergy to the soap. My son would do this when he was about 8 with certain detergents - but not all of them.

I believe that is how they sell the over-priced ivory snow and dreft. My kids survived without it. Although there was those instances with some soap but not until my son was older.

My mom didn't wash the dress at the time. So I don't think that it was a laundry thing.

Well all my clothes given to me by ppl have been washed with it already.. And other than that all the other clothes are brand new so I guess I will just try going without it since its so exspensive and if I have to buy it, I will...

i don't think i'll wash her clothes that are brand new...But I might change my mind...Maybe when I get into my "nesting" stage!! I've already folded them up and put them away & that was a little overwhelming...I don't know if I wanna do it again!! Lol

Sometimes its best not to wash all the clothes. You may want to keep all your tags on, incase she turns out to be a he or you just have to many clothes in one size. But it never hurts to wash a few ahead so you dont have any problems.

I just used the fragrance-free version of whatever was on sale. No problems.

Good advice about not washing everything in case you have to make returns. But in general I wash the m&m's new things because i've heard horror stories about nb skin and the dyes/irritants in unwashed new clothes. Plus the smell of the baby detergent in his little drawers is a plus!!

I washed all the 0-3 months clothes first, after I exchanged all the gifts that were duplicates and such. Now I just wash them as she grows out of them, which she is just starting to do so. I've got like 5 0-3 month outfits that simply don't fit my lil porker. They are way too short and her feet don't fit in the little footsie (is that a word?!) part. She's got some big feet.

Now I do pretty much a whole load of just her clothes every other day, or every second day. :shock:

ive never seen/heard of ivory snow but we have dreft here...I think. I use persil non-bio, says its for sensitive skin. I didnt wash any of my sons new clothes before he wore them. I thought because they are new, they are clean. Hm

I don't know allie. I'm freaky like that. I wash my own new clothes before I actually wear them bcos I start thinking about all the people who touched them or tried them on in the store. Plus I worked in retail a several years back and I saw how they got thrown on the floor, stepped on, sat on, and the dusty nasty back rooms they were in before they even made it to the shelves... But like I said, i'm just freaky like that. I know we'd be pulling baby clothes from the back when stockers were short handed and we'd take stacks from the boxes and throw them on the floor before putting the hangers in. I don't even want to think about the germs. :shock:

exactly. Same here. And imagine if the item you bought was a return, and you don't know what came in contact with that piece of clothing in that other persons house *shiver* ewww
