Q: Cause to Worry?

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and have had a smooth pregnancy thus far, however, i'm concerned about some information I read on a pregnancy/baby web site about how active the baby should be at this age. Through weeks 21-28 the baby had been incredibly active, with regular bouts of movement throughout the day. In the past week or two though, his movement has decreased, becoming much more sporadic and minuscule. Granted, I still feel him moving around, but it's significantly less then before. The site I was reading said that at week 31 the baby should be moving more than ever, and that I should feel at least 10 kicks every two hours, including some rolls and punches. I would hardly say that he moves that much every two hours. I appreciate the information and helpful literature the internet has to offer, especially from credible sites, but I don't know if i'm worried for nothing or if there really is cause for concern. This is my first pregnancy and there's a lot I don't know and second guess myself on, so any experienced advice, thoughts, commentary would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Well, I worried about this a lot when I was pregnant. For one thing, the movement becomes very second nature and you might just be tuning it out so to speak. It can be very normal for it to be weakened because your baby doesn't have the room to move around in that it used to. If you're worried, tell your doctor and they can have you come in and monitor it or give you an ultrasound. If you're feeling the baby move though, I think everything's fine. Don't stress too much. Just enjoy it. Sounds like everything's great.
