Im currently 8 weeks pregnant. Yesterday
my obgyn called to tell me im a carrier of
the cycstic fibrosis gene. I dont really
know much about this disease. Today my
boyfriend went to my doctors office to be
tested to see if he was a carrier as well
and an employee at the office scared him
and me half out of our minds. She said
that cystic fibrosis leads to muscular
distrophy and cerebral palsey. I have
virtually spent the afternoon surfing the
internet for information but nothing shows
any connection between diseases. Does
anyone know if this is true or not.
Unfortunetly my doctor is otherwise tied
up and I have not been able to contact
her.

Thats false
dont worry about anything
even if your man is a carrier (most likely
not), theres only a 25% chance your child
will have cf
even if your child has cf, its not the end
of the world by any means
i am doing just fine at the age of 21 and
plan to continue to do so for at least 21
more years
