Non Hormanal Iud And Heavy Perids Posted: 04-28-06 05:35am
I have never suffered from heavy periods
but since I have had the copper coil (non
hormonal iud) inserted i've been flooding
loads every month. I know they say to
expect heavier periods but this is
ridiculous, so much so that i'm going
today to have it removed!
Has anyone had a similar experience?

I had light periods before my iud, and
they are actually pretty much the
same..Except one or two days of
heaviness..
Talk toy our doc about options of
relieving the heavy bleeding... I know
here in the us many women are advised to
take 800mg of ibuprofen to help with
bleeding problems associated with an
iud..Mainly because the bleeding is a
result of inflammation...Have you
considered trying this first, the coil is
such a great contraceptive..I'd hate for
you to lose it..

Copper Iud Works... But It Sucks At Times Posted: 05-03-06 06:52am
I had a copper iud for 4 years. It was
nice to have a bc method that I never had
to think about much but my periods sucked.
They were long, heavy and did I say long?
I would have what seemed like a heavy 4-5
days period followed by a light period for
up to 5 days. If you are sexually active
it is a pain in the ass to wonder if your
partner is going to pull out to a
"surprise" when you have sex. There were
times I thought after 6 days my period was
done, only to realise after sex that I was
still having a light period. It sucks.
Anyways, I am gonna try the nuvaring. The
best part of the copper iud is no
hormones... I was on allesse in
highschool and it made me moody.... The
iud didn't exacerbate my pms... Plus no
weight gain which was nice. But before
you go get it (insertion is painful) think
about how it could potentially affect your
sex-life.
