Hello everyone,

my god I haven't been gone that long and the forum has been so busy! Nice to see new people on here.

I have alot to say so here it goes:

ok, 1 month ok I had a severe crash. I have been so ill I seriously thought I had soemthing else going on even though stan kept telling me it was all the sugar (sorry stan!). I feel flu like all the time, no energy, tired, nauseous but what really upsets me is what has happened to my legs and arms - they have become weak, they feel like lead and it hurts to lift them. I have been in hospital for 5 days this week havign lots of tests done. After many trips to the useless doctors, they finally tested my insulin levels which were abnormally high. This led to an endocrinolgist referral, which in turn led to tests at the hospital.

Ok u won't believe this, but to rule out insulinoma I had to fast for 72 hours. It was hell. The first 24 hours were surprisingly ok. I had no faint spells dizzines etc, becoz of course, my pancreas had nothing to react to. Then next 48 hours were hell. My legs and arms became so bad, I was bedridden and had to be carried to the toilet. Results came back normal, excpet they said my insulin was a little high the first hour (1 hour after my food). So the doc said - oh u might b a little insulin resistant. I had so much blood taken - 14 times in total. Blood sugar checked every 2 hours too. And I had a test for addison's. All normal - sent home with you have chronic fatigue syndrome. :x

so I went back to my nutritionist. He is a top london nutritionist who specialises in abnormal hormones, hypogylcemia etc. He sent me a simple saliva test kit. I collected my saliva 4 times in the day sent it back. He phoned me saying I have very high dhea and cortisol levels. (apparently doctors check blood cortisol levels which are differenht or soemthing). Anyway ive ordered lots of supplements he has recommended and im hoping they will help me. (along with the diet of course). I will b taking glucobalance, adhs, phosserine complex and arctic omega, which all aim to reduce my cortisol levels and reverse the insulin resistance.

I am currently having to have a fair amount of carbs as my muslces have been so badly affected, especially by the fast. I have also lost half a stone from the fast as as well as the rest I lost from starting the diet. So at the moment I need carbs.

Im just hoping and praying that the supplements and the diet will get me better!

Phew! Sorry for the babble!
