Having a Bad Birthday (breastfeeding Issues) Posted: 05-01-06 18:42pm
Well actually it's the best birthday I
could've ever had. My baby's .Jaundice
(.Biliruben) level has gone down!! This
is basically the ok to me going back to
breastfeeding. Well, today I attempted to
breastfeed and she just wasn't having it.
She's been on the bottle from the breast
for about 4 days now and I thought she
would love to have the breast back because
she keeps "rooting" (searching for my
breast with her mouth open.)
anyways, she would latch on and suck for
about 2 minutes, then all of a sudden she
would break loose and freak out!! I, of
course, start crying thinking that i'm
gonna be a bad mother if I can't
breastfeed. My .Fiance was barking in my
ear, after 30 mins. Of her trying and
screaming, that I need to feed her, and
she's starving and so on and so on. So
finally I give in and give her the bottle
to calm her down.
I'm gonna attemt to feed her again from
the breast, and hopefully she cooperates
with me. Any positive feedback about
transitioning back to the breast from the
bottle would really help!!

I cannot give you any advice, but lol at
him thinking she's starving. That's kind
of cute.
I'm glad she's doing better!

It could be because shes not gettin to
food strait away like she was with the
bottle I would surgest waiting till shes
brity hungry then feeding her on the
fullest side may work

Well what we've decided to do is to pump
my breast milk and feed it to her via
bottle. It's just too much for her to
have to re learn how to latch on. In the
hospital it took a while, so i'd hate to
have to put her through that again.
I did everything natural starting with the
birth and I wanted to continue to go
natural by breastfeeding. But, I had a
legit reason for wuitting the breast. She
wouldn't have gotten over her .Jaundice if
I hadn't have stopped.
I went and bought a 200 dollar pump last
night and it's not working up to it's
price! Lol...It seems like I can get more
out by hand pumping my breast than I can
with this pump. I'm not gonna give up
because I really don't want her drinking
the formula this early. I really want her
to drink the breastmilk because of the
antibodies.
Last night I came to understand that this
type of thing happens and not every mother
breastfeeds their babies and they're
totally fine!! It's just hard for me not
to do the natural thing. I know i'm not
in the 17 hundreds but it just feels right
to me!!
Thanks for the input yall!!

Hey, breastfeeding is the best way to feed
baby if you are able to and I totally
applaud your decision to pump to keep the
baby on it for as long as you can. Not
only are there health benefits for her but
there are plenty for you as well.
happy birthday sarah!!!

Tell me if this sounds selfish....
I told my .Fiance that now that i'm
pumping, only I can feed her the bottled
breastmilk. He got kinda pissed saying I
was being selfish...But what if I were
naturally breastfeeding/!?! He wouldn't
be able to feed her then, so why the big
fuss because it's in the bottle. I don't
want her to confuse who supllies her with
her food.
He can feed her the sugar water, but I
want to be the one who feeds her my
milk...
Selfish or legit??

I'm planning on breastfeeding, but i'm
planning on pumping and giving him bottles
too after the first couple weeks. In my
case it's because he's gonna have to go to
a daycare and he's gonna have to get used
to getting his food from someone other
than me. Plus I do want my hubby to be
able to experience feeding his son. I
think it's an experience that you both
should share together if you can. Plus
after a few more days (and nights) of you
being the only one getting up to feed, I
think you'll change your mind

Lol...I know he would .L.O.V.E that...I
was planning on starting that at 3
months...But for her 1st most importnant
months, I wanna be the sole provider of
her food. I know it sounds waaay selfish,
it's just natural to me. My man would
love to feed her at 3 in the mornin if he
didn't have to be at work for 5.A.M every
morning. He doesn't work weekends, so
.Friday and .Saturday nights are allll
his!!(after 3 months for the milk.) he can
feed her the water that she needs in
between feedings.
