I had mono back in may. I had to go to the hospital and say overnight due to a rash and dehydration, so I had a pretty good case of it. My Dr. Told me that I would probably not be normal for about a year. Last week I caught the flu, I went and got my antibiotic and am feeling better, but being a smoker the cough is still lingering. For some reason when I go to have a cigarette now I choke and can't have one at all! Now I know this is better for my cough for me not to smoke at all, but I am wondering if something more is wrong w/ my throat/cough. Anyone ever experienced this??? It's been about a week now that I have not been able to smoke.

I'd suggest that you try to stop smoking. This symptom that you mention, coughing when inhaling a cigarette, is a natural response. Your body is asking you to stop that action.
