Employer Demand
Posted: 05-03-06 13:22pm

My current employer told me that if I wish to continue with my employment I had to stop taking prozac. I dont think that is a good idea. I've been taking it for about a year for depression and social anxiety. Is this ok. How do I ween myself off of it. I need this job. The state I live in is an "at will" state. He can fire me for no reason, and I can quit for no reason. So if I fought it he can just fire me for any old reason. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Is he requiring a drug test to prove you're no longer on it?

What an insensitive problem! I would still take them and just not tell him. In the meantime look for a job elsewhere, with a boss who isn't an fool.

I would still take them. Just try to act upbeat.

He Cannot Fire You! Federal Law Says No!!!!!
Posted: 05-10-06 23:06pm

You may live in a "right to work state" but according to the discrimination law's of the federal government he can not do that to you!

By telling you to stop taking your meds he has just opened himself up to a huge fooking lawsuit!

That is discrimination! He cannot do that!

Talk to a lawyer… as soon as you get this!!!!!!!

That’s like saying that he’s gonna fire someone for being in a wheelchair or being a woman…

the people with disabilities act was specifically made for situations like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

No matter the state’s laws the federal laws cannot be ignored!!

Find that poster that he is required by law to keep up and get the 800-number for o.S.H.A. (i think the acronym is wrong but you know what i’m talking about) and call and talk to someone there if you can’t talk to a lawyer.

Tell your employer that if he fires you for being “mentally ill” you will slap him with the biggest discrimination lawsuit known to man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!

Depression, anxiety disorder, whatever is all a mental illness and therefore covered under the people with disabilities act so as long as you do you job he cannot fire you for taking doctor monitored, legally prescribed medication!

You do not need to put up with that caca! I’m pretty sure that he is breaking the law just by asking you what med’s your on!!

Look into this!

If he fires you for your medication then you have the equivalent of a winning lotto ticket! Talk to a lawyer! Do it today!!
