From everthing that i've read when I thought I could be pregnant, you don't start ovulating until approximately 10 days or so after the first day of your last period. :d

You can get pregnant anytime you have sex, sometimes even when it's protected. Even if you're on your period. It just depends on your body and it's cycle. Some women ovulate like clock work each month, and others have floating ovulation, meaning a different time each month. Also, some even ovulate more than once a month. With as confusing as our bodies and ovulation can be, it's a miracle anyone gets pregnant!
