What is the difference between phlebitis
and thrombophelbitis? I have a history
of dvt (deep vein
thrombosis/thromboplebitis) - had an
ultrasound done earlier this week because
of calf pain and pain extending into my
inner thigh. The doctor said no clots,
but I had phlebitis - put me on
antibiotics and anti-inflamatory, and
bedrest with my leg elevated for two to
five days. My question is this - what
caused the phlebitis? Does this mean
that I had a clot that has resolved,
leaving the inflammation, or does it mean
that a clot was about to form due to the
inflammation? I just can't seem to get a
clear understanding of phlebitis without a
clot present - any info is
appreciated.......Thanks.....
