Hey there im 17 years old, I was assulted
in february, and it was later found that I
had a detached retina...Following my sight
slowing lacking in my right eye.
Ive had my operation to set it back in
place with the oil bubble. Then the 2nd
operation to remove the bubble. My eye is
very wonky and to the side, im very
concious of this. And it has brought my
confidence to a new low. My eye sight is
also lacking, but im happy with the
results than before the op. Can I expect
my eye to go back to the way it was?
(like straight and not looking to the
side?
Many thanks
jon

Hi! I am really sorry to hear about your
detached retina. Finally someone that
understands... I have the same. You
mostly see it in elderly people so it is
hard to deal with as a young person.
Worse than that, I did nothing to cause my
retinas to detach, and they are detached
in both eyes. I have already undergone
my first surgery, am currently recovering
and bracing myself for the next. I am
going to post my story in this area but as
a new post so it will hopefully attract
attention and get some feed back, as I am
just as clueless about all of this as
yourself. Check out what has been going
on with me... I guess I could title it
"young people with detached retinas". My
doctors are great and say I am healing
beautifully but to me it is more
emotionally challenging than anything
because before my doctor visit just weeks
ago, I knew nothing was really wrong....
Then they start talking about blindness?
Hope all goes well with you. Take care

Thank you, iam now going to have my third
operation probably at the end of the year
to straighten out the eye. My eye sight
in my right eye is still poor, but im
still glad of the results. Theres an 80%
chance my eye will stay straight for the
next 10 years so thats better than
nothing. Im sorry to hear about your
condition. So there is not reason for
them to detached with your eyes? Yeah I
started to experience blindess after about
couple of weeks after the retina detached.

Ya I went to the doctor a couple months
ago about floaters and flashes and he said
that I have a detached retina in both eyes
and He said that I will be okay. But now I
am seeing that my left eyeball is just a
little higher than my right eye and Im
kind of freaking out.
