I am 8 week 4 days since the start of my
last menstrual period.
Positive pregnancy test 1 week after
period was due.
Started bleeding 7w, 6d - went to for an
ultrasound next day, baby - measured
5.5w-6w, no heart beat seen. Doctor
expects a miscarriage.
Bleeding has continued, brown appearance
with some clots, not as heavy as a period,
has been going for 5 days now, maybe some
clots look a bit like membranes?? I am in
no pain, except for about 1 hour the
second night, but no worse than period
pain.
I still feel pregnant, breasts very sore,
still very hungry, have never had
nausea.
Going for another scan 10 days after the
last one, still 5 days wait.
Has anyone had this brown bleeding/clots
plus an undersized foetus with no
heartbeat and been ok.
So many of these forums have such hopeful
stories. I suppose if the foetus had of
been the right size I would be more
hopeful, but it looks like it probably
died a couple of weeks ago.
I am feeling a bit sad. :(

Hi, I am so sorry your going through this
hard time.
My situation is a bit similar to yours,
but without the bleeding.
My scans couldnt find a heart beat, and I
was told a miscarriage was iminent, as my
progesterone levels were going down
instead of up, and my hcg levels werent
progressing as normal.
Has your doctors told you about your blood
results? As to an indicator of your
pregnancy? And if the foetus is viable
from the results??
Mine sadly wasnt, as I think my
miscarriage started today, but I wasn't
sure if I was going to continue this
pregnancy??
But its still a hard thing to experience,
and deal with.
I have my next scan in 5 days also.. So
we'll see if I have miscarried this one?
I do hope things get clearer for you, and
you find some support, you must be in
termoil thinking about what is
happening?
God bless,
natalie x

Hi,
thanks for the reply natalie, I hope you
are ok.
Things have became quite traumatic.
This is a rather graphic description but I
think women should know what can happen.
On wednesday night my bleeding changed
from brown to red and slightly heavier, I
felt fine in myself.
I went to work thursday morning, and
started haemorrhaging by lunctime. I
soaked 2 pads in an hour, my jeans were
soaked and a blood clot the size of my
hand came out. I freaked out, rang my
husband who picked me up and we went
straight to a and e.
The hospital was great, I was in a bed in
15 mins, on a drip in 30 mins, a gyneo
examined my in 45 mins. The bleeding got
heavier once I got to the hospital, when
the gyneo examined me there was 2 huge
blood clots along with lots of blood, my
cervix was closed, he sent me for an
ultrasound straight away.
On ultrasound, the baby was still there
but the sac was a lot more shrivelled than
friday last week, it was an incomplete
miscarriage and apparently the uterus
starts bleeding when everything does not
come out.
Interesting the ultrasound lady asked me
if I was warned if this could happen, I
said no, basically all I was told was to
return for an u/s next monday and if the
bleeding got heavier to return.
I was then put in a gyneo ward, and in
about another hour another gyneo examined
me, this time my cervix was open, but once
again the blood loss and clots were
significant. He advised to get a
`removal of products of pregnancy' (name
of the procedure) straight away, it is not
a d and c, but a suction based procedure.
I could have waited to see if it all came
out since my cervix had opened but the
bleeding was too scarey to wait it out and
no one was advising this as they were very
worried about the bleeding.
At 8pm I had the op, it was a 20 minute
procedure, since recovery the bleeding has
been negligible. I stayed in hospital
onite and then came home yesterday. I was
tired yesterday, and today am feeling a
lot more normal.
This has been a very sad time, but also
physically traumatic. This was the
scariest thing I have ever gone, through,
and I think if I had some information
about it before hand it would not have
been so bad as it was the unknown factor,
not knowing you could bleed this heavily.
I hope that most women do not go through
this. I must also mention I was never in
a lot of pain, I could feel distention in
my uterus - obviously when it was filling
up with blood, but no real pain.
Has any other women gone through a
miscarriage with so much bleeding, I just
feel alone.
I hope this does not scare anyone, I just
want others to know what can happen. I
still want to get pregnant again.........I
still think it is worth it all.

Hi nattie I had the hcg level blood test I
took the first one on thursday and I went
back today and they said that it lowered
but that me n my hunni might now have the
same blood types and that I might need a
shot or somethign to make the pregnancy go
right n that might be what is causing the
levels to go down :s

Heavy Bleeding Posted: 06-27-06 11:07am
Hi I am new and just stumbled across
this.
I am 2 days out of hosp. I started
bleeding at 10 weeks a scan showed my baby
was smaller than should be and heartbeat
slowing. I then bled like a period for 2
days. I was woken with bad pain in the
early hours and was flooding with blood
and clots, by the time I got to a and e I
was soaked and bleeding was at a
dangerious level, I was examined but had
so much blood pouring out of me they could
not see my cervix clearly. I was rushed
into theatre and crossmatched for blood.
This is the second m.C I have had like
this almost in exactly the same
circumstances although last time I was
passing liver sized clots, this time I got
to hosp quicker.
We are devistated and as this is my 3rd m
c we are now being sent for tests.
Anyone else been through this.

Hello Posted: 10-18-06 22:45pm
Yes, actually I just had almost the exact
same thing happen to me last week. Monday
night I started bleeding not much but it
scared me. So we went to the e.R. And my
u/s said I was also 7wks and 6 days but no
heart beat. This is my second miscarrage
this year. I also have a 15 month old
son. But I knew from before that
heartbeats are supposed to be there
between 6-8 weeks. Then during the pap at
the hospital they said I had a cyst on my
cervix and that is what is bleeding not
the baby. And not to worry. So they sent
me home with directions to see my Dr. On
wed. On our way home I felt a huge gush
and started bleeding everywhere it was on
the pad my pants and my husbands truck
seat. Through out the night I bleed and
bleed I used my sons size 5 diapers as a
pad and went through it and then had to
use two pads in an adult depends. It kept
on all week I went to the Dr. And he said
to get another u/s on thursday and that
was all he said. When I went to get the
ultrasound done they said there was no
sign of a baby. So it was already gone.
Obviously the Dr.S were withholding info.
I guess to not make me go nuts I dont
know. But I cant help but think that I
had my baby in the toilet and didnt know
it. Now a week later I am still bleeding
but very little and so depressed I cant
get out of bed. Luckily my mother and
husband are helping me through this and
taking care of my other baby. But I feel
even worse because I know when he looks
into my eyes and sees me crying and then
hugs me he knows something is very wrong.
I am 22 years old and I have already been
pregnant 3 times and only carried one. It
is very hard but everyone tells me you
will get through it and I did the first
time so I guess they are right. Let me
know how you are doing. Thanks for
posting this and reminding me that I am
not the only one that has to go through
this.
