Numbness, Sluggish, More.

Basic starting facts and medical history: i'm 19, female, and on the pill. Not sexually active but it shouldn't apply here, it's for poly cystic ovarian syndrome which might increase my risk of diabetes so i'm sort of worried. I currently don't have insurance, can't afford it, can't afford hospital and can't afford more basics and only have meds from samples, but you aren't here for the emo story. ;p i'm also on topamax, and claritin. I have a history of still undiagnosed blackouts that have been dismissed as "not quite seizures, but here, take this seizure medicine anyway." I have a history of back problems, injured once when I was five and another when I was eleven, including two of my vertebrae actually being rotated kinda funny. Also, both of my hands have been crushed in a door at one point or another, I can't remember which at which age, but this may or may not be a contributing factor? Still, it was some time ago, and both times I did go to the hospital.

Anyway, to the point: the last few weeks i've been getting increasingly sluggish, but I just blamed it on laziness. But yesterday walking was a chore, and the last few days i've almost tipped over a few times.

I've had a few instances, in waking, where my body refuses to move. I say move, my body doesn't seem to understand. It's almost like being paralyzed, then it fades. Another time or two, i'll wake up and one side [usually my left] decides "i'm not coming with you" and will be completely numb, usually a very burning type of numb. This all usually passes within a few minutes.

Today, when I woke up, I had numbness in my pinky finger's tip, right side. I assumed it would pass, and sort of counted my blessings since it tends to usually be a whole arm or leg. But it proceeded to the next knuckle, and now it's moved to the ring finger's tip too. It's not a painful numb this time. Strangely, some things I can sense better than others, and some things I can barely feel at all if that makes sense. My mom checked my hands, one in each of hers, and the finger with the strange sensation could feel her hand better than the other pinky. But, for example, it can't feel anything cold, but it can feel warm. It kind of hurts if I squeeze the fingers, and the hand feels a little weak. I don't know what else I can add to it to be useful.

Mom's thinking of me quitting the bcp - yasmin 28, if that helps any. I take it continuously, no break.

Any help here? Should I ignore medical cost and go in anyway, or is this something I can put up with and not worry about? I spend a pretty excessive amount of time on the computer, and am right handed, so this is my mouse hand, I was wondering if it was just carpul tunnel.

Woo, I think I managed a little self-diagnosis, i've managed to shoo the numbness out of the ring finger and back to the very tip of my pinky where it actually vanishes and comes back now and then.

I remembered and instance where I went to the er within the last year suffering symptoms akin to a heart attack, arm cramping up etc. It turned out it was my neck muscles clamping down and locking down on my nerves. I checked out some nerve stuff and it looked like that might be it, so I took a rest for a few hours, applied a heating pad, got a back rub, took some anti-inflammatories, and i'm feeling better! :)

i'll take a night's rest and see if it gets better or worse. Sorry for any false alarms but i'll post if it gets better or worse with bed rest, so people know how it ties up and if anyone else has a similar situation they can use similar methods?
