Was on 25 and then 50mg of chlorthalidone
for a few weeks. My elecrotlytes were
normal. I became jittery and eventually
began to get irregular heart beat readings
and felt bad enought to go to the er. My
ekg ws ok but all my electrolytes were
very low. I was given potassium and put
on an iv until my electrolytes stabilized.
Upon release my doctor put me on
toprol-xl and wants to put me back on a
lower dose of chlorthaldione. Prior to
any medication my sodium levels were
always at or near the low range of normal.
I also had been one who made frequent
trips to the bathroom before taking
medication. Would this make me a poor
candidate for diuretics?
I don't know had to submit this to "ask a
doctor" forum but I would appreciate an
answer from a doctor and a clue how to
access the "ask a doctor" section.

I'm sorry but since I'm not a doctor I
can't really answer your question
appropriately. I hope you did consult with
your doctor or got a second opinion
though.
