Help For a Teen

Hey everyone. I'm so glad I found these forums not that now I can talk about bipolar. Sometimes I feel like I can't talk about it to people. Anyways I think i've had bipolar for a while now (at least since I was young, like 7 or 8). The thing is that i've read about bipolar and when I do I get so surprised because i'm like, "woah I do this a lot..." some times i'll have the most drastic mood swings (from fairly okay to frustrated to really sad). Like i'll start cryingt out of nowhere. Or i'll be really hyper and have all this unbelievable energy(sometimes even when I sleep for only 4-5 hours). That's another thing... I have the worst time falling asleep. Let's say its 11 pm and I go to bed. Most of the time i'll just think think think and realize that its 1 or 2 in the morning. I'll think about a million things aand then fall alseep once i'm really tired. I'll fall asleep when i'm realy tired like at 2 usually. The biggest problem is my my mom thinks that i'm just over reacting. She thinks that its just "normal" and i'll get over it ...Some times I feel like begging her to take me to a psycyatrist. She doesnt think that talking to a professional is "right"...So that's where i'm stuck. I've had numerous times when I wanted to talk to someone so badly but i've never dared to talk opening about this with her. So, anybody got advice?

I hope you get help soon, my 14 yr.Old daughter was diagnosed about 1 yr. Ago adhd and bipolar. Alot of what you were describing was just like her. Read the book "the bipolar child" by demitri and janice paplos. If that sounds like you then show it to your mom, teacher, Dr. Until someone helps you. I wish my daughter had told me about her feelings along time ago b/c we were all suffering from her behavior and mood swings especially her but I had no idea what was going on with her.
Maybe you just have depression? You have something going on that you deserve and need to talk to a Dr. Or counselor. Even if it's just regular "good ole" teenagerness! You need need to talk to a professional. I hope someone (mom) will listen to you and take you serious and get you to the Dr.,counselor, or you might need to do it on your own-start with your teacher or school counselor. Good luck and god bless. Ashleyefc

I think it started when i was young, 10, 11 ish, im 14 now.
whenever i feel sad i start crying and i cant stop, i think of no reason for living and if people would notice if i were gone.
this can happen over little tiny things , or for no reason at all
I cant tell my mum or dad, they wont believe me and im scared that i do because i dont want to be controlled by medication
if any1 out there can help it will be much apreciated

I'm proud of you that you want to seek for help. I have a 16 year old daughter who has been taking meds for bipolar yet refuses to believe anything is wrong with her. She hurts herself and is constantly depressed. So yes, there's alot wrong with the situation. I push her to get help constantly and administer her meds. At this time she just found out she's pregnant and I need to know...now what? she's 3 weeks pregnant and have been on meds. will the fetus be ok?
