Pregnancy After Microdiscectomy Posted: 05-19-06 16:02pm
Hi there,
i hope somebody can help. I had a
microdiscectomy operation 2 years ago
after slipping a disc. It was an old
injury (caused after a car accident,
jogging for many years) and then made
worse when I fell pregnant. However, my
back has healed incredibly well and I
rarely experience any pain (just
occasionally if I give my toddler a piggy
back!).
We are now planning to try for another
child and I am wondering if there are any
risks of further damage/pain when
pregnant?
If anybody has had a similar experience, I
would love to hear from you.
Thanks! :d

You should not experience any
complications. Once the discectomy was
complete, the poblem was fixed.
That is a minor surgery when compared to
most back surgeries and since it is not
too invasive, the spine and muscle
structre are not too impacted.
I am not a doctor but I would think that
you should be fine and you and your hubby
will have a great time with the second
baby.
Always check with your doc when you are
concerned about something like this but
from a laymans view, I would be too
excited about the 2nd baby and probably
would be blinded to the pain until it was
too late. :>)
