I'm a 15 year old girl and after having a discomfort under my right armpit that I thought was an irritation due to shaving, I found a small lump. What are the chances that this is somethign dnagerous like cancer?

My "lump" is under the skin and feels like a swollon gland, a little like a gland that is swallon in your neck when you have the flu or a sore throat!!!

Have any of you been to the doctor? I had a baby ten months ago, during the pregnancy I noticed a lump under my left arm. I asked my doctor and he said it could be that my milk was coming in. So needless to say I didn't give it a second thought. Well here I am 10 months later and the lump is still there. It feels the same way some of you have described it.Like a swollen gland. Recently I have begun to feel pain on and around the lump. I am scared! I know I have to schedule an appointment. But like I said I am terrified to receive bad news. I am looking for moral support to help calm my fears :0)

It's not cancer. It's breast tissue. I have it too. I had it checked and it's just breast tissue. Very common. You can have it removed if you want. Mine didn't bother me until I had my babies and it filled up with milk. Very embarassing and painful. It never went back down to a small lump, it's just like loose skin now from filling up with milk. You all are fine. :o)

It's also possible that you have a swollen lymph node (which you also have ones on your neck so that's why it would feel the same..). That can be due to numerous reasons. It could also be a cyst which is a benign fluid filled sac that is of no harm to be there. It's always safer to get it checked out.. But at your ages it would be extremely rare for it to be cancerous. More likely it's either the lymph node swelling up or a mass of tissue that's harmles..

Im 15 going on 16 like many and i've found a lump under my arm. Sometimes its the worse pain and sometimes I dont even remeber it is there. Its been there for over 2 or 3 months and it scares me but I dont want to go to a doctor if it is nothing major. Its not big just feeling it but when I poke at it on the sides it goes in deeper and its under the skin. Any ideas would be great! Thanks

I'm so glad I found this site (thanks google!) i've had this lump on my right armpit for a year or so and was too scared to tell my doctor t_t lately I seem to be growing some moles and thought the lump was developing into cancer!! And I think the lump is getting bigger but it may be my imagination ^^;; is there no way to get rid of it? Like treating it like a swollen thumb and putting an ice pack on it? Eating something? Vitamins?
Or do I have to get an operation? T_t
also, is there anyway to reduce the chance of getting moles? I want them to stop appearing and making me paranoid.
One last thing that may be related to this thread but i'm not sure if it is... It's kind of embarrasing.... Well, lately I seem to think that my right breast is smaller than my left one... Is it because I slep on my right side sometimes? (squishing it?) or since i'm right handed, it affects it somehow? Or the lump? Some people say that their milk goes to the lump but is that only during preganancy? I'm pretty sure i'm not pregnant since i'm only 16 and a virgin.

your lymph nodes are located in the armpit area and when they get swollen or tender to the touch, it usually means that they are trying to clean out some kind of infection or inflamation going on in that area of the body. You folks might want to consider not using your under arm deodorants as most of the drug store products have some very toxic chemicals that are easily absorbed in the armpit area.Swab with white vineager instead. There are some vitamin supplements that are excellent for cleaning out infections and lessening inflamation. I'd give you more tips but its best to do your own research via google.

what if it really isn't that tender? I've had a lump for a while now... And even if it's not swollen or tender should I still use vinegar? I only have rice vinegar in the house, would that work as well as white vinegar?

Hey im new here and I recently found a lump under my arm. Its weird as it isnt vagina, or tender when I dont touch it. It is a hard lump, like its solid, and I am sure it is not a spot or an ingrowing hair or anything...

I was wondering if anybody had any information?? I dont want to go to the doctor or tell anybody, but I am worried.

Last month I also noticed the lump under my arm pit. It is the size of a pea and I have monitored it daily, thinking it is going to go away, that it is an ingrown hair or just using an old razor.

I had stopped using deorderant thinking that maybe I needed a breather, but it's still there.

I have put ice on it maybe that it was an inflammation, it's still there.

It makes me worried, because everyday I wonder what the heck it is.

I finally brought it up to my significant other and he says "oh, that's just a cist of some sort" like it's nothing because he states that his mother had 2 of them before and just got them removed surgically.

I have had a cist before in my breast where I had a milk duct clogged up and made it look like I had 3 breasts....Lol, but the doctor had made a 1/2 inch incision and released all the milk out.

But this arm pit lump is just bothersome and dont think it is going to go away as I have done so much research on this and everyone states that their lump hasn't gone away.

Like others, it is not hurting, alittle irritated because I keep on feeling it, pinching it, to get a better feel, trying to look at it without crossing my eyes, but still have no clue.

I am going to assume that it is a cist and as soon as I get some kind of health insurance, I will check it out and come back to this website and give some feed back, because I can't find any kind of feedback anywhere.

It can be scary to find a lump in or near your breast. If you're worried about it, see a doctor.

Don't let anyone tell you that it's no big deal.

I'm 31. About two years ago, my doctor found a lump in my breast during a routine exam. She said it was probably just some swollen tissue or a cyst. She said I should wait a month to see if it went away or changed and that if it was still there to go to a surgeon she recomended. I was scared and so I waited several months, hoping it would go away. It didn't. This doctor was a gyn and my insurance company required that referals to specialists or surgeons come from the primary care physician. So I finally went to my pcp and he did an exam and found another lump near my armpit. He ordered an ultrasound and mamogram, but nothing showed up on them. My pcp was still a little concerned though because I have a family history of breast cancer. So he sent me to a surgeon. By the time I had that appointment, the lump near the armpit had gone away. The surgeon did a needle biopsy on the lump in my breast. He said it was probably just a cyst and he drained all the fluid from it with the needle. He said I shouldn't feel a lump anymore. The results of the biopsy were normal.

I had a follow up appointment with the surgeon two months later. The lump was still there and it was bigger. By then I was really scared. So he did surgery and removed the lump and found that it really was just a cyst. What a relief!

Throughout this whole ordeal people kept telling me not to worry and that it was no big deal. But I still worried and it was a big deal to me. A friend told me not to worry and her mother had the same surgery a couple of times and they were just cysts. My mother-in-law said it was nothing to worry about and had the surgery and it was a cyst. Everyone kept telling me it was nothing and not to worry.

I know they meant well and were trying to calm my fears, but I felt like no one was on my side. Then, one day I went to visit my husband's grandmother. She had cysts removed at different times too. She started to tell me about it and I thought, "here we go again. She's going to tell me not to worry". But she didn't. She described the same fears that I had. She told me that people will tell me it's nothing to worry over, but that I will. They will say it's not a big deal, but it is when it's happening to you. She said I had every right to be concerned beacuse it is a scary thing. For the first time, my fears were calmed because she knew how I felt. I felt like I finally had someone on my side.

So don't let anyone tell you how you should feel. It's ok to be scared and it's ok to worry.

I have a small lump that just appeared on my armpit too. But I did another google search and this was a relpy a dr gave to a girl who was just getting over the flu and also had a lump on her armpit:

"cancer lumps rarely hurt, if you're worried that the lump in your armpit might be something nasty like breast cancer, that's extremely unlikely. The lymph node is probably a result of your cold or flu. In any general infection, lymph nodes around the body can become swollen and sore (cancer lumps are rarely painful) and these lumps may develop several days after your other symptoms have started - sometimes even when you're starting to get better."

what I got out of it is that "cancer lumps don't hurt" so if your armpit lump hurts it's not caner!

when I had my grade 8 sex talk, or maybe I read it in the "sex and your body" section of the dolly magazine in australia, they said that it is normal for a girls breasts to be slightly different sizes, especially in purberty, while their growing, they will eventlaly even themselves out, but they wont be prefectly the same size.

My left one is slightly smaller than my right one...But its just normal.

I'm 31 years old and have found a lump under my right armpit. It's larger than a pea and really hard. It hurts to touch. Is this just a lymph node? I've not been ill lately and am getting worried now!!
