Cat Scan
Posted: 01-10-04 15:29pm

As some of you know i've been trying to conceive (i don't know if I have this month and my period isn't due for another 5 days ) however I have a cat scan scheduled for tomorrow (i've been waiting a very long time for it) and it's very important that I get it done. Could this harm a possible child in any way considering if I am pregnant I would only be 3 weeks right now?

Hey tanya! How are you hun? I miss talking to you...As for the cat scan, I would definitely explain to the technician that you are trying to conceive and there's a possibility you could be preg, but need to go through with the cat scan....Im sure theres something they can do for you....Arent cat scans of the head anyways? If they are, they can put those x-ray jackets overtop of the rest of your body(i.E abdomen) protecting the fetus, if theres one present...Either way definitely let them know before you get it done! I wish the best for you tanya, you deserve a little angel of your own!
In my thoughts,

Hm this is a tough one....I've been in your shoes though, because I have to get x-rays of my abdomen(intestines) also at least once a month...I got scared because I had one done a couple months ago, but should be okay....What time is it scheduled for tomorrow? The only thing I can think of is to go to your drs and see if theres a lab you can go to, to get a pregnancy test done(blood) but have the results back that day....Because taking a hpt wouldnt show up that early...Who knows, maybe a pregnancy that early on isnt directly affected as much as if you were lets say 4 months into your pregnancy ya know? I would either talk to your physician and/or the tech at the x-ray place, and see what they say....Im sure they're going to do whats in the best interest of you and your possible baby, so if you need to get a cat scan done and you end up not being pregnant, they should be able to fit you in again soon, due to the circumstances....Keep me posted on this, and no worries! Everythings going to turn out great.
Best of luck!

I'll be sure to talk to them. I was trying to research it and I know early pregnancy is crucial for development but at the same time many people have had scan's done not knowing they were in fact pregnant and nothing went wrong but that's a chance you take. They wouldn't be able to tell from a scan if I was preggy would they???

Just to let you all know I called my doctor at home and he said he would schedule a blood test right before the scan so that I would know before going in. I'm about 6 days from my next period so im worried it won't be accurate but i'll let you all know how it goes.

Not preggy this month! But im glad about that because I have a severe kidney infection and I got the cat scan done! I didn't try too hard this month but i'll try again next month! Thats the beauty of it! You can keep trying over and over again.
