Low Percentage of Protein In Urine.
Posted: 05-22-06 14:13pm

I have a low percentage of protein in my urine. My doctor thought that my protein went into my blader when I was standing up, but I still had protein in my urine when I was lying down. I am a fit 18 year old and I take protein shakes and creatine when I train for my sport. Could this have an effect for the amount of protein in my urine? Thanks

I dont recommend protein shakes with creatnine and yes this can cause it. Protein spills into kidneys when they are stressed. Eating lots of protein will do this and ruin your kidneys as well as heavy excercise. Especailly if you have a family history of diabetes or kidney disease. Beaware to watch if you eat alot of meat and get tired as opposed to getting energy. Make sure you learn to get your protein source from something other then animal then- like fish-soy-nuts. People who cannot break down protein well, often need to alter diet in that way. So if you feel like sleepy after eating a big burger or steak- maybe so even not, try a diet cchange along with a different drink.

Drink plenty of water- if you want protein intake for workouts choose a whey protein without all the added junk in it. Proper hydration and carb intake in healthy forms will provide as much muscle and energy you need. I used to have this as well and I was a gymnast for 14 years and my body couldn't handle the protein source and excercise intensity. I found this out from seeing a kidney specialist.
