Q: My Seriously Horrible Day

Okay. I was having the back pain all day and at 2:25 in the afternoon I started having contractions. They were pretty mild but they went on until 5:45 and were coming every 8 minutes. I called my doc and asked her what to do and she told me to head to l&d. I told her that they would probably stop, because that's been the pattern for a while now and guess what, by the time I got to the hospital (through rush hour traffic, mind you) they had stopped. So I was seriously po'd cuz I had wasted my time going to the hospital (i live far from the one i'm going to). Anyway they hooked me up to some type of fetal monitor and gave me this thing to stop me from having any more contractions. I stayed attached to that monitor for hours cuz the m&m's heartrate wasn't doing whatever it was that they wanted it to do after I took the medicine. I personally think it was because of the medicine because it made me feel groggy and out of it. But whatever, i'm not allowed to go to work tomorrow and they want me to show up for some biophysical something or other for the m&m. For whatever reason even though they're saying he's a large baby they don't want him to be born yet. I'll ask my doctor after the bio thing tomorrow. Found out too that i'm only 1 cm dilated.

Yup those were the ones and at first I thought that maybe that was the problem. The thing wouldn't stay in place if I so much as breathed. I'm all swollen and I still have the dent in my belly from where the big one was....

Yeah I didn't get any pain meds or anything but whatever they gave me to stop the contractions from coming back made me giddy before it made me groggy. God I love hospitals, they give you gooood stuff there....

Oh yeah sandra, I never found the information about smoking and this is why. It absolutely doesn't say what the doctor said. As a matter of fact it says the exact opposite of what the doctor said. I didn't read it when she gave it to me. She told me that and gave me the pamphlets and I assumed that she was giving me the information that supported her stance. It doesn't so i'm assuming that what she's saying is personal opinion.

Anyhoo, I have no more problems with ehealth and i'm assuming it's cuz I finally installed the dsl. It doesn't log me out or anything. I'm assuming that dial up was the issue.

Arrgh, I had to wear one all the way through my labour and birth-(they never gave me a good reasoneither- plus- my baby was moving around (and down) and the strappy-thing-part wasn't doing the trick, so a nurse chased my baby around with that stupid thing the whole time- at one point I was kneeling on the bed-trying to push-and there she is with the sodding monitor-reaching through between my legs from behind.
I was so over it.
And no fair- I went into hospital with "false labour"(felt pretty damn real to me) twice in the month before I had the real deal, and all they gave me was an asprin!!-oh no, that's not right, once it was so bad, I had the gas-then she did an internal exam and said- no, you are not dilating, there's nothing going on at all- tightly closed. I nearly hit her with the mouthpiece.
Unless your baby is practiclty the same size as you, they hardly ever induce you early. They told me my baby was big -she was about8 pounds at birth-not huge, but definately not small-i went all the way to my due date, she was born 23 minutes after midnight of the day she was due.
How much longer have you got to go? You sound so like I was !!

Technically he's due on wednesday (tomorrow) but for whatever reason they don't want him to be born yet. I am sooo sick of being pregnant though and I don't want the little m&m hanging out in there another week. I go in for the biophysical something or other today. I'll update everyone on the findings. I'm not really worried because 1) i'm sure it was the medication that slowed him down, it almost knocked me the heck out, 2) it was the time of day that he's usually sleeping anyway and 3) once we left the hospital he was moving around in there like a little hop toad. Whatever! At least I get another ultrasound and a day off work out of it! Finally i'll get a much needed mental and physical break!

How big is your skoot? Have they told you? I dont' understand why they would stop your labor if you are so close to your due date. Mmmmm well I am not too sure about labor and delivery yet, havent got that far.

I hope that you are doing alright today. I am sure that you are at your finally to the point to get it over with. You will be ok and once he is here you will forget the last few weeks ever happened. It will not seem so bad once your skoot is here.

Well, I went in earlier today and to make a long story short they jagged me around. I was supposed to have the biophysical thing in the morning but I didn't end up getting it until 1 o'clock. We hung around the hospital until then right after that I was supposed to go up to l&d to have him monitored again. He passed the bio thing but they wanted to monitor the heartrate again. My doctor said that if his heartrate wasn't the way they wanted it this time that she's going to induce my labor. So I could possibly have the baby tonight or tomorrow morning. If he passes I just go back home and wait for him to be born on his own. So I don't know. I'm kind of scared of being induced but if they think that he's okay then it'll all be gravy.

By the way .Gen they think that he's about 8 lbs right now. We'll see how much he really weighs when he's born.

Oh my .God .Kay!!!! Do you realize how exciting this is?!?!?! I'm gonna start praying for you now to help you have the strength to pull through drug free. Imagine how alert he'll be when they flop him on your chest!!! Kayoni had her eyes wide open when first came out and they put her on my chest!! She wasn't as waxy as I thought she's be immedietly after.

So are you gonna be able to stay out for 4 weeks now that you had to stay home today??! Did you get a note or something!! Cuz it's been 4 weeks for me and I don't know if I would want a day chopped off!!!

You better update me on this!!!!!

Sarah

Nothing happened. He passed the test so now that i've wasted a whole day in the hospital i'm back at home and have to go to work tomorrow morning. I'm glad he's okay but I was kind of hoping that they would induce me anyway just so I could get this baby out of me. He's too heavy and i'm too tired and i'm sick of working. His due date is tomorrow and i'm showing no progress. I'm still only 1cm. I've got a frigging doctor's appt on thursday. If he doesn't progress by then I think i'll have a mental breakdown. I'm sooo sick of being pregnant. I swear to goodness once this is over i'm never as long as I live having another baby, being pregnant is a highly overrated experience. I mean come on, he's perfectly healthy and close to (if not already) 8 pounds. How much bigger can the kid get. I'm pretty small and it's already painful when he moves around.

Still absolutely no sign of labor. I'm going to the doc after work tomorrow and telling her that if she doesn't induce me i'm going to tie myself to her office door and not leave until she does.
