I hear laminectomies are good for people
w/ leg pain. But what about people who
are only experiencing back pain only??

That is a very large generalization. It
depends on what your specfic disorder is.
A laminectomy might be helpful but than
again it might not be. If you are going
to the orthopedic surgeon for your first
appointment, they are going to do physical
therapy and steroid injections first along
with medications and after several months,
if you don't respond positively to the
more moderate treatment, they will then
begin to discuss more invasive surgery
options.

I have large l4-5 herniation w/ svere
central stenosis, no leg pain just bad
back pain w/ some numbness in right
foot/toes. I have done everything and the
Dr. I saw was a spine specialist, a
harvard grad, and he kept asking me if I
was having leg pain. I later looked up
laminectomy on the net and it said it
works for leg pain but does little for
back pain only. I cancelled the surgery
