Hey Guys, I Gotta Questiioonn.

Ok- so here's the deal.

Since my boyfriend &.I both have semi-low paying jobs [he pulls in about $600 every two weeks, &.I'm just about to get hired where .I'll get about $400 every two weeks], &we both have a lot of bills to pay- both seperately [we each pay our own car insurance, health insurance, cellphone bills, etc] &together [rent, cable, internet, electric, etc].. We don't &aren't going to have a lot of extra money. So i'm applying for .Medicaid &.W.I.C.. He wants me to apply right now. As in, like, tomorrow. But my concern is that .I'm still so early in my pregnancy [probably not even 4 weeks]. So .I guess what .I'm wondering is- since .I'm about a month along, would .I be able to tell if something went wrong? Such as- god forbid- a miscarriage? Or would it still be too early to tell if something went wrong? I wanted to wait until I was about 2 or 3 months into the pregnancy to get financial help- just to be safe. Sooo .I don't know! Lol.

Well, in my opinion you can't be too careful. And medical bills stack up faster than you think. So I would think the sooner you sign up, the better so you have that extra help no matter what. Also with .W.I.C, you can get cereal, and cheese and milk, and eggs (something like that) while you are pregnant, up until your baby is 6 months old (i think....Unless you breastfeed then it may be different)
but i'd definately try to get the medicaid asap.

You should apply for medicaid as soon as possible. You will need a doctor's confirmation of your pregnancy. At least get the forms and start filling them out.

You need to make an appointment for .W.I.C.

Check your pm....

I didn't need medical proof of my pregnancy. I just told them I was...Of course this was right after .Hurricane .Katrina, so i'm sure they were a little lenient on me.

I didn't have a .Dr prior to going to .Medicade. They actually set me up with one. I had no clue of who accepted medicade in my area. They gave me a certificate to give to the .Dr office stating that I did apply for medicade so to see me and even if I wasn't accepted they would cover the initial visit.

But, every state is totally different!!

I'm sure that the doctor sent something to the medicaid office in your area confirming your pregnancy, or else he would not have been able to continue getting paid by them for your care.

You don't have to go to a doctor prior to going to apply for medicaid, but it will not be approved if you are not pregnant.

Thanks guys.
I think .I'll go this week.
Our planned parenthood does free blood tests &
gives all the proof of being pregnant &whatnot.
So .I think .I'll just do that.

P.S.. Sarah check your pm!

When I applied with my last pregnancy the la salle county public aid department would not let me get a card with out proof of preg. But if you have the same prob. Go to the wic office and they test you ther with a hpt and fill a paper out for you to taker to them in order for the card. I do not have a free clinic here that I know of. Closest wic and public aid office for me is in ottawa. Unless things have changed since it was almost 4 years a go

Definately go now and get all that stuff done. Sometimes it takes a while for them to get all your paper work and stuff in. You will probably have to show proof that you are pregnant but you can get a letter from planned parenthood if you don't have a doctor. Also you should look into a heap program they have them in new york and might where you live they are great especially in winter they help with electricity bills and heat.
