Darvocet Any Good For Pain?? Posted: 05-26-06 21:58pm
I stopped doing activities for a period of
time and became asymptomatic and so i'd
thought i'd be ready for some light gym
activities. Well I thought wrong and now
I am in considerable lower back pain. I
have a large l4-5 hern. W/ severe
stenosis. Will darvocet take considerable
pain away??

What does your doctor say?
It's not a good idea to self-medicate ,
especially with a strong drug like
darvocet, and most especially if you want
to kill the pain without dealing with the
underlying problem. You will do more harm
than good.
See a doctor.

Darvocet never did me much good I had a
very bad ear infection and the doctor
prescribed it to me because I was under
age and he couldn't give me anything
really for pain. Darvocet is considered a
low "pain killer relieve". Most people I
know who have taken it honestly say it's
like taking a tylenol. And thats how I
felt too. If it helps you well then I
guess I just have a high tolerance. Good
luck with it though

Darvocet is one of the most mild of pain
medicines yet it can be very effective for
pain management when taken along with
following the plan of care instructions of
your doctor.
With that said, if you plan on continuing
taking medicine without surgery you will
seriously need to be refered to a pain
management doctor. They are the only
doctors that are truly qualified to manage
your pain and actually make a plan of care
to keep you out of pain at least enough to
allow you to be partially normal.
If you are not having success with the
darvocet as prescribed, do not increase
your doseage because it contains tylenol
and it will do some serious damage that is
unrepariable! If you need more of the
medicine, you could ask the doc for
darvon, it is only the active medicine
with no fillers or apap.

It is highly doubtful that darvocet will
give you relief. You have not only
centralized pain but radiculopathy
(numbness in foot) that is caused by neral
compression. You need to see a good
surgeon pronto. Good luck to you.
