Hi i'm new to this site, 39 yr old woman
in uk. Last year I had a car accident
which fractured my jaw in 2 places and
since have had awful tmj pain on left
side. Pain killers and acupuncture help a
lot, but its very wearing being in pain
most of the time. My surgeon says my left
tmj is so damaged it will have to be
replaced. I'm having the tmj concepts
custom made joint from california. Anyone
out there had one? What is the surgery
really like? Did it work? I would really
appreciate your input as i'm really scared
of what i'm about to go through, and also
hoping it will improve things for me.
Thanks, mel :?

just remember that everyone is
different---different people will react
differently--make sure that you are not
allergic to any materials used. you dont
want your body to reject the concepts.

Tmj Joint Replacement Posted: 12-28-07 17:54pm
I am also "up" for joint replacement
surgery on both sides. I've had 13
surgeries over the past 20 years and this
is the only option I have left. At least
that is what I am being told by three
different surgeons. However, my question
is this: does the pain get worse - how
long before you feel good again - scaring,
big question - how long were you wired
closed. Any and all information would be
greatly appreciated. I am now in a fight
with the insurance company to approve
this, they consider it dental, I consider
them crazy! I can't sneeze without having
to be pealed from the ceiling, can't sleep
good, can't chew well, can't yawn, and the
list keeps growing. HELP anyone that has
had it done please repond. Thanks

Lorenz Joints Both Sides Posted: 01-09-08 09:04am
Hi Please be careful and have metal
allergy tests done. I had a pure titanium
joint 3 years ago and had a reaction to
the massive amount of metal and it had to
be removed after 3 months. 4 surgeries
later I now have left and right Lorenz
joints which are mainly plastic with some
titanium nickel etc. So far there has
been no rejection issues although they are
only months old. I do have a lot of pain
on the rights side as scar tissue has
formed between the fossa and the condyle
parts. I am also in the UK and was 39
when I had my Lorenz joints fitted.

like i said--thanks for coming and giving
your input. yes its pretty bad when the
body rejects the implant--make sure that
you test this well.
