Birth Control Pills And Depression Posted: 05-29-06 23:42pm
I was wondering if anyone knew of any
birth control pills that don't cause
depression; or if anyone is taking any and
they aren't depressed? I am on
depo-provera right now; and am happy with
it- but I am a little worried about the
bone loss; since i've been on it for 2
years now. Before that though I was on
ortho-tri cyclin , orto tri cyclin lo, and
yasmin; all of which caused me to become
depressed and have horrible mood swings
and cry all the time. I also tried the
patch; which I went off for other reasons
(cramps.) I want to try some type of pill
again, but am really afraid of becoming
depressed again. It was the most horrible
thing. Is anyone on any pill (besides
what I mentioned) that is working and not
causing depressino on mood swings?? If so
please share!! Any info on the new
loestrin birth control pills????

If the depo is working, but you do not
like the bone loss associated , why not
try a "mini pill"... It has the same
hormone as depo, however in a much smaller
dose, and is safe :)
I cannot use any type of hormones, so I
have a copper iud, but low dose pills are
great for depression.
Loestrin is a good one, and actually nuva
ring is tolerated very well in women who
cannot tolerate most pills..So just in
case you have another option.

Im on cerazette the newest brand of mini
pill and ive had major times of
depression. Ive been very poorly. Like
wanting to kill myself and thinking the
world hates me. I was quite emoional
before the pill but this made it worse.
Its not all the time. Just certain times
I feel really down....... Xxx
