I had two hcg 48 hrs apart. The first was in the 11000
the 2nd in the 19000, I just took a 3rd one but have to wait for the results.
The doctor said it is goin up but not doubling. Im so afraid. I had 2 miscarriages already and really want this child. He told me to relax until we see what the 3rd test is........
What do u8 think

I had this kind of scare....
When I was 9 and a bit weeks....It was easter so when I had a bit of bleeding I went to hospital, they couldnt do a scan as there was noone around (in england we have bank hols..Noone seems to work)
they took my level (admitidly is was very high...30000, then 48 hours later took again and told me it should double...It went up by 300...I was told it was either a failing pregnancy or ectopic..... Anyway to cut a long story short im now 15 weeks and the baby is fine....

Midwife was fuming as she said hcg levels wont always double

How pregnant are you? Or do you think you are?

This can affect the levels of hcg.... The fact is it is going up.... Have you had a scan or been offered one?

When I had my problem my midwife told me afterwards that its only very early stages of pregnancy that the levels double, after that they can go up a bit until they get to a stage that supports the baby....
With a good scan (ie baby with good heartbeat) the levels are irrelevant, some babies can survive on a lower level of hcg....Its very unfair that the drs are basing your baby's life on these levels without doing anything else...
