Getting Abortion -- Please Help -- Scared to Death! Posted: 06-02-06 09:59am
I am pregnant and I am getting an
abortion. My question for you guys is to
please help me. I think i'm only about 4
weeks pregnant so I have the choice of
abortion by pill or I can wait for the
surgical.
Which do you guys think is better between
the two?
If you have had either one of these
procedures, can you please tell me your
experience of it?
Did it hurt horribly?
Were you sick, like throwing up?
Did you have severe cramping afterwards?
If you guys can please help me out, it
would be most appreciated, I am seriously
at a loss because this is my first time
and i'm scared out of my mind.
P.S. -- this is my final decision, so if
you have advice on other options, please
keep them to yourself. Also if you have
never had an abortion, please don't
respond (no offense), I want to hear from
people who have been there. :?:

I personally believe that the sooner you
have an abortion the better it is. I was
11weeks and had a surgical. I was under
general anaesthetic so the actual
procedure didn't hurt. Afterwards I was
sore and had some cramping for a few days.
Not trying to scare you as it's not the
norm but the most painful thing for me was
that I had an infection following (the
anitbiotics clearly didn't work but I had
an ius inserted a few days later so it's
just as likely to have been that).
You can take pain killers which help with
the cramping. The only sickness I
experienced was morning sickness, nothing
following the abortion.
I haven't had a medical abortion, I have
had the second set of pills (causes the
cervix to open) following a miscarriage
(well, the embryo died and wasn't passing)
as opposed to the usual d&c (long
story as to why that happened, I digress,
sorry). That was actual quite painful but
I took pain killers and used a heat pack
on my abdomen and it eased the cramps.
Again, this didn't cause me to be sick but
I had cramps following.
*this may not be accurate for a medical
abortion as it wasn't technically one but
thought i'd share that too*
i'm sorry you're scared, please try to
relax. Make sure you have some support
around and it'll make the whole thing alot
easier.
Take care.

Thank you so much for that....I don't
think you know how much that helps me. I
think I have decided not to have abortion
by pill as I have read, it is a horrible
experience altogether, with loads of pain
and sickness and it takes hours so I will
do the surgical.

Yes definately go the surgical route.. If
you want a pain free experience try
general(asleep) anesthesia, or the iv
sedation that they offer.. I had that and
my aboriton was totally painless.

I dont know what a sergical one feels
like, but I hav had a early medical
abortion(the one with the pills)i was 9
weeks. It did hurt, but I have a stong
pain threshold. It is about 100 times
worse than a period. Im not going to lie
it will hurt. Its just an uncontrollable
feeling, like when you have diorehhia
but...Vaginal. Only advice I can give you
is to have someone there. Put a dvd on.
So you can keep you mind busy and
distracted from the pain. Stock up on the
painkillers and big sanitray towels you
will need them. Also you might wanna sit
on the toilet cause things can get messy
if you just let it all come out in your
pad. The pad wont be able to handle it.
Good luck hun, know you have made the
right decision *hugs* let us know how it
goes p.M me at any time if u want.

I had a surgical abortion on the 1st
june.. The people in the clinic were
really nice and tried to make the
procedure as comfortable as possible.
[did it hurt horribly?] - after the
abortion when I came round from the
anesthetic I had minor period
cramps..Afterwards they offered toast and
tea..
[were you sick, like throwing up?] I
vomited once but when I told the nurse,
she assured me it was normal..I was fine
for the rest of the day. But the next day
I vomited again, just the once and I was
fine after.
[did you have severe cramping afterwards?]
2 days after my abortion I started to
experience period-like pains and just
assumed I was about to have a period. The
day after, I had contractions in my
womb..Ive never felt pain like it, and I
was vomitting. In the end I had to go to
hospital to get some tests and to be put
on a drip..Im feelin better today, but I
still dont know the cause of it.
No way am I trying to scare you, and I
dont regret having the abortion. I just
wish that they would have warned me this
may happen instead of telling me id b fine
to go to work the next day!
Good luck

Hun I can get personal about this but I
know many girls who have had abortions..
Actually 5 of my friends and I was with
them through the whole thing..
One thing I want to ttell you is this"
make sure this is what you want to do,
that there are no other choices..
When you terminating a pregnancy you are
going against the body. Doing something
with something that a body normally
wouldnt do.. This causes pain.. Kinda
like when you get a cut.. It hurts
because its not supposed to happen..
Anyhow I wish I could tell you it wont
hurt and you wont be upset but you most
likely will.. 4 outta the five of my
friends had pretty bad experiances and
wished they kept the baby..
I hope that things go really smooth for
you and that it is a complete abortion
with no problems..
Good luck but really make sure this is the
choice you are going to make..

Myself and others I know have had
abortions and I don't know a single person
who did not think it was a big mistake to
have it. You have feelings for many years
afterwards that never really go away.
People really don't tell you about this
part of it - and it is bad.
