Seriously In Pain
Posted: 06-03-06 13:54pm

Tuesday evening I was getting ready for bed when I noticed a stabbing pain in my right hip. I'd been on my feet all day, so I figured a good night's sleep would take care of it. But the next day it was still there, and has been since. I work a 40-hour week mostly on my feet, so I haven't really had much of a chance to rest. I think it's aggrevating the problem.

I'm trying to hold out for my doc appointment on monday. I'm not sure if it's a pinched nerve, a calcium defficiency, or something else. What I .A.M sure of is i've got this very unsexy waddle thing happening, and i'm beyond miserable. I'm considering asking my doc for something in writing so that I can cut back on my work hours without my boss flipping out.

I am sooooo sorry to hear of your pain as I live in pain 24/7, my problem is nerves and degenerative disk, arthritis, sciatica and a whole lot of other things that I have to live with, I have had surgeries but they have not helped much, it seems like you get one level semi-fixed and the next goes hay-wire and I have learned the more surgeries, the more scar tissue and arthritis so it isn't that much worth it for me but I am no dr and we are all different and I do understand the waddle but it beats the wheel chair, I do have one but I refuse to use it, if we go out and are walking alot I do use my electric scooter, otherwise I fall and I do use a cane around the house but still fall, hopefully he will do an mri on you and do some therapy and some water therapy on you and tell him to put you on light duty or off for a while, hopefully you just pulled a muscle and it is nothing serious!
Keep us posted on what you find out!
My thoughts are with you!

Its sciatic pain. Theres a nerve in ur hip that gets aggrevated and sometimes pinched during pregnancy as well as many other times in ur life and yes it hurts beyond belief but its something u just kind of have to deal with bc they cant give u any pain pills or anything like that. There isnt much at all that can be done but at least it is good to know whats going on

Are you a doctor? Yes, it could be sciatica but it could also be any number of other things.

Actually I had that during pregnancy with my second it was really bad I couldn't wait for the pregnancy to end I think I health forum about it a few times here anyways what the dr told me was that hormones during pregnancy relax the bones/tissues surrounding them for the passage of the child and somewoman can expierence (caca I forget) anyways I think its like before you give birth your hips change anyways with somewoman it does that earlier...

My buddy had something similar something along the lines of hips bones separating it her just to walk..

I had crazy hip pain in the last month and a half before I had the baby...Sometimes I would stand up and my legs would actually give out... My doctor just said that it was normal. :x

Well, had my appointment today... Doctor tried rotating my right leg, stopped when I started crying, and put me on bed rest for a week. She wants me to consider stopping work now, but i'm not sure that we can afford going down to one paycheck right now. I guess we'll see how things are after a week.

I had sciatica from the time I was 9 weeks pregnant until I delivered my daughter at 41+ weeks. It was the most painful thing i've ever dealt with. I welcomed the birth pain because I knew the back/hip pain would be over with! When the only thing you can take is tylenol and you cannot walk for the second half of the day without crying...Your life takes on a different meaning.

You can have sciatic pain without it shooting down your leg and it can be terribly painful. I'm not sure where bed rest makes it any better. It is just something you have to live with since the only 'cure' is birth.

I wish you luck. A few things to try that semi-helped me, though nothing takes all the pain away, was a maternity belt. Sometimes just having my hips wrapped tightly together was enough to get through a day. Do anything you can without walking and avoid stairs, those are killers! I got a tall stool for the kitchen so I could cook and chop veggies and mix dinner while I sat. Warm baths where you can lay weightless, swimming would be excellent! And rest, rest, rest!

I hope you get some relief!!
