Anxiety And Numbness/hands Asleep
Posted: 06-04-06 19:48pm

Lately i've been really anxious about a heart arrhythmia, so i've been thinking bad thoughts constantly. Lately though i've been getting the feeling of my hands and sometimes feet having that "fallen asleep" or "tingling" feeling. Also, my left arm goes totally numb, usually overnight but it has no feeling at all and I can't move it for a few minutes until I shake it off. The tingling in my hands won't go away. Is that normal with bouts of anxiety?

Hey backhome... Nice to see you again. You may have already read my other posts, but i'm gonna tell you anyway. The cause of my health problems was monosodium glutamate, a common additive. Please go to msgmyth.Com for more information. It causes anything from heart beat irregularities to multiple sclerosis. It is possible to avoid this additive is the good news! If you have msn or yahoo I would be happy to talk with you about it.

Hello backhome,

ok first of all have you seen your doctor about your symptoms? This is a major priority before "thinking" it is anything else. Numbness and being unable to move the arm are two different things. What is more concerning of the two is the inability to move the arm for a short period. However, you mentioned that this occurs when you are sleeping, suggesting that the numbness and restriction in arm movement is most likely because of sleeping positions, and therefore lack of blood flow to that area. When you next feel the numbness evaluate closely the position that you are lying. For example lying on your arm can cause restricted blood flow and therefore temporary loss of movement, which should return to normal within one hour. As for you heart fears I shouldn't think that it is anything serious as this is an extremely common anxiety complaint. As I said get to your doctor first (if you haven't already done so) before you make and assumptions as to what it could be to get things ruled out.

All the best,

james
