Ok,

hubby and I are thinking of getting pregnant soon. But I have a few questions for the ladies who have been through it, so please, please post some info for me!

These are the only things i'm not really getting answered by the magazines and "comcast on demand" parenting/pregnancy shows. Thanks---melissa

(before birth)

1---what are some of the very first symptoms I will feel (besides nausia)?
2---around what week/month will I be able to actually feel the baby moving?
3---how long before the doctors can tell the gender?
4---what helps morning sickness?

(after birth)

1---asuming all goes well (vaginal birth, baby is healthy), how long do you normally stay in the hospital after the birth?
2---how many diapers does a newborn normally use up in a day?
3---at what age do you start feeding your baby something other than breast milk/formula (like the saucy, jarred baby foods)?

Before birth

1. Besides nausea, you could have implantation bleeding (typically shows up around when you would have your period if at all but a lot less and not as long), swollen breasts, gas, bloating, or nothing at all.

2. They say between 18-22 weeks with your first. It was about 17-18 weeks for my first and 16 weeks with this pregnancy. It can also vary depending on your size.

3. I've read some women found out as early as 14 weeks???, but docs typically perform an ultrasound between 18-22 weeks where you can find out the gender (if the baby cooperates).

4. Small meals, about 6 a day, and ginger, i.E. Ginger tea. My doc said I could take dramamine but they use that for motion sickness?!?!

After birth

1. Insurance usually pays for 48hrs for vaginal delivery and 96hrs for c-section. I only stayed for 32hrs.

2. It depends if you breast feed or formula feed. I had to supplement in the beginning with formula and went through 8-10 diapers a day. When my milk came in and I b/f 100% it went up to 10-12 a day.

3. I think this is a personal preference. Some people give cereal to their 2 month old while others wait until 6 months. I waited till 5-6 months to introduce any type of solid food.

Hope this helps.....:)
