Q: Am I Seeing Things?

Okay, let me give you a little background... I'm not on birth control, I haven't taken any since february. My fiance and I rely souly on condoms for protection.

Now I have a 28 day cycle. My period was due on the 31st of may. I took a hpt on the 26th, negative. I few days went along and I had no cramping, and no spotting like I usually do when i'm about to start. I took another hpt on the morning of the 31st, positive. I saw a very very faint line. So light if I didn't do another double take, I wouldn't of saw it. Of course common sense says, take another to make sure. I waited a few more days until today the 6th of june. This time I got the same result, in the same fashion. I had my friend look at it to make sure I wasn't seeing things, and he saw exactly what I saw, a positive. I haven't told my fiance any of this stuff because I don't think I should get him anxious over something that may turn out to be nothing.

My question is... If I saw 2 very faint positives is it still a positive? I plan on taking another test at the doctor very soon, but I don't want to get too worked up over nothing.

Yes a positive is a positive! Congrats. The faint line just means that you don't have very much of the pregnanct hormone in your system yet...So go to your docs asap.

I'd say if you want to be safe, head to the doctor &get it confirmed before you tell anyone.

Congrats!

Well... Not so much of a congrats, yet. I went to the doctor today and the test was negative. The actual doctor was busy with more important matter (someone came in with blood coming out all over their face). But how can that be 2 positives at home, and a negative there? Is it cause I took the test at the doctors in the afternoon? Plus, could it be the doctor's test isn't as sensitive? If I am pregnat I would be approximately 3 weeks.

Also this is a real inconvenience if it is positive cause my fiance is in kuwait until next june *tear*

Your hormone level might not be high enough yet to show up in a pregnancy test as you think you are 3 weeks? Id wait a week or so longer for it to show. Make sure you do a test in the morning, then if you are pregnant go from there! Good luck!!

You count how many weeks along you are starting from the first day of your last period. Since you said your period was due on the 31st of may that means you're probably more around 5 weeks. Also, if you were having protected sex with a condom why did you test before you'd even missed your period?

I tested early because the condom broke on us a few times. I normally don't worry too much about whether i'm pregnat or not unless something along those lines happen.

More Confused Than Ever!
Okay... I took another test this morning. I took an off brand, select exchange. I thought possibly it was the brand that I was using before. Of course a cheaper brand was going to do something wierd.

I waited the recommended time and I saw the a bright blue horizontal line. Where the vertical line would be if you're pregnat... Well... There was a blue streak at the top, and a blue streak at the bottom. It was like the middle of the line was missing. My friend said to take it as a positive.

I put a phone consult to speak with my doctor 2 days ago and she still hasn't called me back. I'm so confused. So that's 3 positive tests for me and a negative for the doctor. *tear*

You state your period wasn't due until may 31, but you started testing on may 26. Which tells me you knew you were pregnant.

Why did your doctor give you a urine test and not a blood test?

Pregnancy tests taken in the morning with the first morning urine have the highest level of hcg. Early pregnancy tests should always be taken first thing in the morning. Or get a blood test from a doctor.

What is the difference in knowing you are pregnant today or waiting until you can see a doctor for confirmation?

Good luck.

Stupid Rules
I'm in the army stationed over in s. Korea. In order for anything to be done I have to be seen by a doctor. The doctor told me that they won't give a blood test (althought I requested one) until my urine comes back positive. I'm supposed to go to the field on the 19th and be gone for a week. If I am pregnant I don't want to be out there lugging a weapon around, carrying heavy stuff, and possibly injurying my child.

My unit really isn't supportive at all. The only person I can turn to for advice is my friend, and he's a male so there really isn't much I have there. I've talked to my mother, but there's only so much she can do over the phone. *sigh* oh yea... My doctor still hasn't called me back.
